0/10.......WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANY SCHOOL IN THIS DISTRICT!! ESPECIALLY South Middle School!! If your child is not black, hispanic, a mixture of either, they are NEVER heard! These scumbags ACTIVELY work to vilify any child with special needs, children that are bullied on a daily basis and children who are just in general 'different' than the weapon toting demographic. Would NEVER in my life recommend torturing your children by sending them here.

My daughter has been attending South middle school since Jan 2022. Coming from a Charter School down in NYC. First I have to say, the amount of substitute teachers these scholars get a day is for them to fail the class. Everyday my child comes home and says she had a sub in this class and in that class. The videos that get posted on social media about kids getting hit in class kids playing around and no one teaching the class. My daughter is a Straight A student coming from a school with discipline and structure. I will be going to the Newburgh school district to see what can be done about this.

Academics are rough, but the vast number of cultures are great to grow up with. Bad neighborhood and the rules are incredibly dumb, (no bags in class. Even small things just to hold your stuff. They might get in the way) Bullying and violences is harsh. If you're attacked you can't fight back or you'll be treated likewise to them. It's confusing and contradictory, so if you have the option, go someplace else.

The Teachers are compassionate and truly love working with the students. Excellent Administration as well.
