The teacher and staff are constantly taking sides and all this school looks for is to try and pin a student to the corner and get him/her in trouble with whatever stupid “rule” they come up with. Whenever a student or parent speaks up they either get made fun of by the administrators or they get talked down on like lessers. Highly recommend that you don’t enroll your kids inside this school

My daughter graduated from BHS with Honors in 2018 and went on to be on the Deans List student at SUNY New Paltz where she majored in Education and minored in History. She also won a NY State Chancellors Award for creating a history app of the Hudson Valley. Now she is attending Teacher’s College at Columbia University in NYC. I say all of this because every child CAN reach their potential in the Beacon Schools; we have caring teachers and parents. Especially the latter. My daughter received an excellent education, and we supported that with outside activities and travel that the school did not have the budget for. No matter, she and her close friends are all success stories. Don’t rush to put your kids in private school, give public school a chance; support the admin & teachers; you won’t regret it.

As a parent of student about to graduate this school has excellent programs that help the student figure out what they like/dislike and I will be sad myself to say goodbye.

Both my sons graduated with honors. They have since finished college and have good career jobs. Mr Atwell and Mr Wise. Thank you for my sons success they still talk about you two. They have children now and hopefully will be back to Beacon to raise them in a wonderfull school district and city.

Beacon's brand new school building is amazing. The school is rigorous but creative -- with strong sports, drama, film making and music programs. The students are taught to think and the self- motivated and disciplined ones tend to do best. It is a supportive environment with terrific teachers and parents. The extracurriculars are many and students are encouraged to start clubs that are of interest but do not currently exist. It has a private school feel because of its careful screening and overall excellence and has a fairly diverse student body. This is a much-loved school!

Every school has it's ups and downs, but as an optimistic, mature and persistent student, I found this school to be a great asset to take with me into the future. I've had many great memories and am going to college this fall, I'm going to miss it.

I am happy with Beacon schools. It is not without it's issues though. I have 2 very motivated students, and my oldest was just accepted to an ivy league university. But there is a strong lack of leadership from the top. This school seems to be run by the teachers, but it works as they for the most part are very dedicated. Guidance department as a whole is completely lacking. No recommendations as to what schools to look at at all. Fellow honer students are going to mid to low range colleges, and I just don't understand why. The new school is a very nice facility, and the honers program is challenging and quite good. Nice diversity of students both racially and financially.

As an Autistic kid, with all my experience of the Hudson Valley, the racism can be felt here at Beacon High School like no other place. I thought when I was done with Rombout it would be an escape. Boy was I wrong, Here's Rombout II just a little bit more mellow.
