Great experienced teachers who care about their students. Parents are supportive and want their children to do well. The current principal, Mrs. Palomino, lacks good leadership and doesn't promote a positive learning environment for students. Most of her interactions with students are negative. The previous principal wasn't like this at all.

I just finished with this school and my years with this school is maybe the worst if I had gone to a different school. I have been in this school since I was in kindergarten. I have dealt with bullying and they barley help with that. Their support for mental health isn't that good the principal doesn't even care about it. They pretend to listen but in reality they don't. Most teachers are great but not all of them and especially the "experienced" teachers. I had a teacher in 6th grade and they were still in school to learn how to take care and be responsible for a class. They were the BEST teacher. I had 2 teachers. the first teacher I had she had to leave because she was pregnant. so half the school year we were with her. And my other teacher was the student teacher. They were both the best teachers I have ever had. They put effort into giving homework and when to put breaks. Some teachers are just harsh with it though. most students have stuff to deal with at home so they can't finish homework and when they try to explain they don't listen and give them a punishment. Most students have harsh parents who expects the best. but they students can't do that when their teachers don't listen to them.

Graham Elementary School is one of the best schools in the city of Newark because of its amazing principal, wonderful teachers, staff, and kind community who work together to create a happy environment for students where their academic achievement is the top priority.Teachers at Graham use the Bloomz app as a form to communicate with parents and guardians. The app has been very convenient, especially during the pandemic while our kids were distant learners because we didn’t miss any important announcements.Principal Byrd’s leadership is amazing! She strives to teach all students at Graham about integrity, compassion and respect. After Ms.Byrd became principal, Graham school’s standardized test scores increased dramatically. She is an incredibly valuable asset to the community because she knows how to meet the needs of all students. Graham school does not tolerate bullying on campus. Graham school is proud to celebrate Unity Day in October every year to raise awareness against bullying.

It’s been an excellent school so far. The teachers, staff. They go above and beyond and you can tell they love what they do. It reflects down to the children.

Hey don't think of it as a bad school because character is what matters the most. This school ment a lot to me. I remember how much the teachers would help me out ,there time and effort out of there busy schedule for me . Right now in this point in time I'm so glad they gave me a sense of imagination , because if I didn't have that I would have never gotten as far as I am now. I'm working as a composite materials technician, or in other words I'm working on missiles for ATK which is a pretty sweet future ahead of me. So my hat goes of to you ......

Graham School performs greatly below state academic standards and with no plan for improvement is at risk being closed within 3 years.

Graham School to me is a 5 star school. My son was attending private school prior to attending Graham School and during his time in the private school my son was not helped in any way but they were sure quick in getting their monthly tuition. Upon tranferring my son to Graham, we had meeting with the school principal in more than one occasion and the principal was very attentive to our concerns and making sure that everything was understood. We are very thankful to the office staffs, teachers and principal for making our transition easy. My son tells me that he is happy at Graham School and he likes his teachers and principal.
