At this school, the teachers work very hard and are extremely approachable. But, the principal is not available very often and I do not agree with her hiring uncertified teachers to run a classroom, esp. in classrooms of students with learning disabilities and low academic intervention needs.

Although EL. Musick is small, but all the staffs and PTA work hard to make it better and better. The communication between school and parent is very good. The principal told us students will start to learn coding at 5th grade which is great step for their future(especially in bay area).

In my opinion, you get out of it, what you put into it. In my experience the staff and leadership has been NOTHING but positive. Though small, there truly is a sense of community at the school. Like many other schools, the school has its challenges and it's far from being perfect...but that is what makes it great. Newark is a small town, and this school has a small town feel which makes your impact on the school even more powerful.

Both my children attend Musick and have really learned a great amount. Mrs. Nordman, Mrs. Carlson, Mrs. Tovar and Mrs. Bennet are all wonderful teachers. My kids are enthusiastic when it comes to learning and I know that is due to the wonderful staff here at Musick School.

Musick school is a school that is not praised enough for their hard working teachers and great students! The families are hard working and care for the education of their children! The teachers are always thinking of creative ways to challenge the students. Small school with a small town feel!

My daughter is in first grade and is loving school thanks to her amazing teachers who make learning fun and interesting. The new principle is great and really cares about the school community. She's visible every morning greeting students and parents. She attends various meetings and is making some positive changes at the school. This year parents are getting more involved also so that is also a positive for the school.

Mrs. Benton, the kindergarten teacher here at Musick is wonderful. My daughter has really thrived in her class and enjoyed everyday here. She began reading and doing Math problems that have surprised my husband and I. We are thrilled with her progress. So far we are happy with the school.

Wow.. Yeah, even based on these extremely old reviews, the status quo is alive and well at Musick. My sons are having the hardest time adjusting from a long distance move, and these teachers have fought any feedback, changes, etc tooth and nail. The4th grade teacher is totally unwilling to stop trying to label my son as mentally disabled, even though he is above average in reading - just because his handwriting isnt neat and perfect and he has had trouble with the different math paced track they are on here. My oldest is Visually Impaired, and the teacher has outright said she will not work with us to make sure we know whats going on with his work and his assignments. Supposedly, letting us know what his assignments are, is not preparing him for 7th grade. Yeah, right. :/
