My son is having a great time at this school. He is making friends, getting A's, and having great teachers. Five stars for the wonderful Midlothian Middle School! Recommend sending your kid here.

The experience we’ve had at this school the last few years has been average to low. Pros : There is a small percentage of teachers at Midlo who still are passionate about what they do and are committed to teaching and making a difference despite all the social issues we’ve gone through the last 2 years. Cons: Some of the school administrators are incompetent and rude. there is a lot of miscommunication and lack of action in issues regarding to bullying, racism, vaping, violence, and drug use among students among the school. PTA doesn’t communicate or provides enough information for parents to get involved. There is a lack of activities to support the school or staff except for an appreciation staff lunch once per year. Not enough extra curricular activities or creative spaces where students can explore their interest. Their internal administration needs revamped School’s culture leans more towards conservative ideologies, in many cases teachers and students are asked not to voice their opinions. We need other Middle and Highschool options in the area that better serve community needs and where the staff is more engaged and involved.

As a parent of a 13yo boy on the Autisk Spectrum that hated school after his first year of middle school at another CCPS school, not having his IEP followed correctly, not having the assistance he required and being bullied, the staff at Midlo Middle has completely changed his outlook on school and he even said to me today " Mommy, I finally feel like my teachers believe in me again" I would have to say this school is AMAZING

When I decided to relocate to a new area, a highly rated school was at the top of my "must-have" list. My child did excel in sixth grade, completing the school year having earned the honor roll all year...DESPITE lack of diversity, bullying, racism, and cliques that go beyond the norm even for middle school. It seems that here in Midlothian Middle School, you are "nobody" unless your family is rich. Thank God my child has thick skin because some of these kids are just plain UGLY inside. It shows what kind of home they come from when a child is able to use the "N" word without blinking an eye. What's worse is that this type of behavior regularly happens in front of faculty without consequence! How can a child properly learn and become well-rounded in a place such as this? I hope this review is seen and inspires the school to DO BETTER!

Midlo Middle is a wonderful school. They help kids excel and learn, moving them ahead in the curriculum as far as they're ready. Administration, Teachers and the children are top notch! We love our experiences at Midlo Middle!

It is so boring, and changes need to be made.

We have sent two children to Midlothian Middle school. One is in the gifted program and one takes accelerated classes outside the gifted program. The school does a tremendous job with both children. They are challenged in a safe and supportive community. We spent one year out of the school district and the difference was striking - one of the major reasons we came back. Highly recommend.

MMS challenges students to achieve, and this sometimes grates on certain kids--and their parents. But it's why we were glad to move into this district and why our own kids are headed toward top ten universities.

As the parent of two students who attended this school, I think my children made significant academic and social progress here.

I disagree with all the comments below. I think that the parents all had their standards set really high because they imagined elementary school being just like middle school. The teachers in the elementary schools babied the children and hoped that they would learn to be more independent. But the parents don't seem to relize this and all that MMS is trying to do is help the students get ready for high school. Oh and one last thing, the world is cruel and if you can't handle the bullying a school then you will never be ready to go out in the real world.

Describe the school- hmmmm- RIDICULOUS for starters. I'm trying to call and ITS 4:30 AND THE ANSWERING SERVICE IMMEDIATLEY COMES ON AND SAYS "OUR SUMMER HOURS ARE M-F 7AM-5PM... REALLY?! It is Tuesday at 4:30! This is THE 14TH TIME I have tried to call this summer- nothing. This is my child's last year- thank god! I have never had one teacher request to meet or come in for conference yet my child almost failed, it wasn't until the last week of school that a teacher reached out to me. I have NEVER had a response, except one time when they called me and said she was absent when she wasnt, I freaked out (as any mother would) and the teacher called me to apologize for his mistake. I've seen and spoke to the principal one time- stand up guy. UNFORTUNATLEY WE NEED MORE THAN A STAND UP AT THIS SCHOOL. I requested multiple meetings or even call backs regarding various things without even an email as a response. I know for certain this is happening with other children and their parents feel just the same, maybe more or maybe less than I. The nicest ladies are in the front working the attendance (no insult meant by that, I'm just not sure of your titles) STOP THE NONSENSE AND BULLYING!

Lots of peer pressure to fit in, compete and/or excel in all areas sports, how big your house is, what kinda clothes/shoes you own, etc. grades and habits have only worsened from 6th to 8th. Nice administrative staff though.

As a student in 7th Grade I have experienced 6th Grade and 7th. The school has gone through very excellent renovations. As a student who moved here in 6th grade I felt like I fit in after about 9 weeks. I agree with other students and parents in which that the teachers are near retirement and have lost their spark for education. Through my years the array of teachers are astounding. I have not experienced any bullying and haven't seen much. Some are the teachers are still very young for teachers. Overall I like this school.

My daughter just completed middle school here and I would not recommend this school. Teachers and quality are inconsistent. Principal oversight is weak and is more interested in protecting test scores and stats than students. There is bullying and drugs and alcohol abuse at this school. Don't let people smooth over the dysfunction taking place at this school with their soft, polite Virginia niceness. Do your homework, ask tough questions and talk to people. A lot of covering up takes place in VA as people don't want anyone thinking badly about good ol' Polite Virginians. Fact is, if you are from a more progressive area of the country, you'll find that your school is probably on par or better than anything Midlo has to offer. It's an average school at best. If you can afford it, enroll your children in Trinity or Collegiate or St. Benedictines. Go private.
