I’m am a recent student going into 9th grade I am I child with mental disabilities, like autism, and ADHD-combined type, etc. I’m in Co-Lab classes (a class with a special education teacher and a “normal” teacher) I did have some bullying issues but the teachers were VERY quick to shut it down and make sure I was ok. In short I would very much recommend this school

The entire time I attended this school I was subjected to relentless bullying. The school's response was to lump everyone into some "anti-bullying" homeroom type of thing where I was lumped with the exact people who made me NOT want go to school, giving them the perfect space to call me names and push me around. My special needs were often ridiculed by staff, and they refused to listen to me when I told them a teacher was making me feel uncomfortable. They also tried to push MLM/pyramid scams onto the kids with the incentive of getting some silly duck toy and if you didn't have one you would get bullied even more. Tomahawk Creek Middle School is really good at setting up kids in vulnerable situations for failure.

The teachers are incredible Well my 7th grade teachers were. The best lunch out of every other school I've been too. The counslers are amazing. The students are nice. I was here for 7th-8th. Best experience. There's allot of diversity so all kids can fit in.

These were the worst three years of my life. Most students are very toxic and rude to one another. It's very hard to keep your mental health in check with mean students picking on you for the littlest things. The Administration here is terrible, they can be very horrible to students for doing a simple mistake, I can't think how many times I myself and my friends have been embarrassed by staff and it's ridiculous. There are many intolerant teacher's mainly in the subject of math and very strict about homework and late grades. Every other subject I somewhat enjoyed. There are also many teachers that put little to no effort into their classes that assign work that's a dictionary long without barely teaching us. Good Bye & Good Riddance, Dramahawk.

I'm a Clinic Assistant here and have been for 3 years, and I can honestly say that the kids (students) here awesome! I've really enjoyed taking care of them. They are always respectful to me and I enjoy having them in the clinic when they come. Mr. Frank

Honestly, I gave it 3 stars but that is even a stretch. There are great teachers there but it’s very few. The leadership is so bad. Walking in the halls felt like a prison sentence. I moved from another middle school in 7th grade and I felt that my old middle school was better at giving freedoms and allowing us to have time with friends than this one. Tomahawk was a dark place where it always felt like someone was watching you. Maybe they were, because the 50 year old assistant principle guy was taking girls pictures in the hall to do - I don’t know what with. That’s a problem. Quite honestly this school is a problem. I feel like people come here because it’s highly ranked, but behind closed doors it’s an absolute nightmare.

I have had more than one child go through middle school. This is the worst experience at a school for one of my children that we have experienced.

Don't send your kid to this school; it was a good school at one time and now I consider it in decline at a rapid rate. The teacher's don't even like this school and have poor discipline because they tell the students as much in the classroom using very colorful expletives.

When it becomes more important to protect your public image than actually implementing effective strategies that would improve your overall proficiency and support of the students, then you lose me. I'll be glad when it's all over. I've never had a child hate school as much as I currently do and that makes me really sad. We moved here for the "great schools" - no pun intended - but I am convinced with my second child I just might have been better off homeschooling :(

I am considering moving to avoid sending my daughter here for her eighth grade year. All of my experiences at this school have been terrible

They need new administration. The current leaders are arrogant, rude, and biased. I have had 2 kids go through this school and both had the worst experiences ever. There is a lot of bullying going on and its NEVER dealt with. The interactions I have had with the administration has been horrible. They are not willing to listen and are arrogant. I actually had a teacher tell me that my daughter is "definitely not honor student material." Then proceeded to say that the honor students are special and gifted. WOW...way to build up self esteem in the kids! The "higher up" administrators are no better...very arrogant, unwilling to listen, and rude. Was actually told to not interrupt (the administrator) when he is talking and then he proceeded to interrupt me while I was talking. When I pointed out that he is not playing by his own rules, he turned very nasty and dismissive. Had another admin person ( assistant principal) tell me that "teachers and administrator at the school stick together" (in those exact words) so don't even try to complain about a teacher because the admin always sides with the teacher. So..they have an environment where the teachers and staff can act anyway they want because the admin will not even listen to the students or parents. Great leadership...close minded and unwilling to hear what the community has to say. Worries me that if a student were to have a "real problem" with a teacher that the student or parents concerns would not even be taken serious. This environment is vert troubling. The lines of communication should be open with the community (especially parents). It is so concerning to me that I have told my kids to keep their phones in their pockets and record any inappropriate things going because I don't trust the administration to properly deal with serious issues.

This has been the worst three years of my childs life. This school thinks they are elite and all mighty, simply because the majority of the students are from middle-upper class families. So, admittedly, it doesn't have some of the behavior problems that other schools have. My child has not gotten the education I would have liked him to have gotten from this school. Again he is average, and has been a nobody at this school. I am so glad he is moving on and hate that I have two more children to cycle through that school. The for sale sign may be going up in the yard.

I just moved to Richmond. I moved to the area I live now because I wanted my son in this school, but at this point I'm not so sure. Since my son started school there all I hear is complain and they clearly don't want him there. I have spoken to a lot of people at my job and no have anything good to say. I am very disappointed with the way my son is being treated!

Most of The teachers were great! The chorus teacher is the best! The assistant principal on the other hand was rude, sexist and unpleasant to be around. Which leads me to this terrible review. He always dress coded girls no matter what they wore. Girls in tight leggings were never dress coded but if your shirt was just slightly lower than his standard you were immediately dress coded. So glad I left that awful school and I'm sorry for any of those that are still there.

This school has excellent teachers, students, and behavior. It's also always trying to improve. They also encorage community service. This is definitely one of he best middle schools is ccps and maybe even Virginia.

Teachers really want students to succeed. They challenge them, but help them as well. They seem to care.
