WONDERFUL school! In the 5 years my children have been at SCES, we have never once been upset. I rest assured that my children are in great care and are receiving an excellent education. Very happy with administration, teachers and staff.

We had a great 6 years at Swift Creek. The treachera constantly strived to incorporate current best practices and also formed great relationships with their students. The school was always welcoming to our child and our family.

Swift Creek is a great neighborhood school! We are lucky to live in the zone.

I love Swift Creek Elementary! The staff are friendly and make learning fun. They are very creative and caring. My children are challenged but are not frustrated. I am a teacher and I was very particular about where my children would attend school. I am very glad that we picked a neighborhood that attends Swift Creek Elementary.

My son started kindergarten this past fall and he loves it. The administration does an awesome job of keeping parents informed of activities, early dismissals, events, etc. The principal and teachers are top notch. They work hard. I have lived in Brandermill for 23+ years and my oldest daughter, now 29, attended Swift Creek schools. They were great back then and they are just as great now if not better. Even the bus driver is friendly and on time every day to pick up my son. I feel very fortunate to live in such a great community for so many years. I love Midlothian!! Go Swift Creek Gators!

Swift Creek is located in an established, wooded community outside of Richmond. The neighborhoods have wonderful walking trails to community parks, playgrounds and to the schools! Swift Creek has some marvelous teachers- bright, creative and caring. Students are greeted each morning with a smile and an energy and enthusiasm for learning. Our experience with local middle and H.S. students has also been positive and we have heard great things about Tomahawk Middle and Clover Hill H.S. I think the caliber of young people locally speaks well to the academic and social experience from growing up in the Midlothian area. Security measures have been added throughout Chesterfield County to help ensure the school safety. Swift Creek Middle is in line for a new buzzer system to admit individuals into the school building and across the county ID's are required/checked before each student is released to a parent or guardian. Driver's License's are also scanned for those entering the office to volunteer or meet their students. We feel this is an excellent place to raise and educate our children- kindergarten and beyond!

My son is currently in his third(3rd) year at Swift Creek Elementary School. There are numerous items I will comment on. First & foremost, is the sense of "entitlement" and the aura that staff and parents seem that they have. I have never been around so many people whereas they think that they are better than everyone else. It is amazing how many people really think that SCES is all that and especially the area(ie. Brandermill). FYI.....Brandermill has/is been going down hill....and it will continue to get worse. Second, the administration/staff is so consumed with themselves....it is truly laughable. As stated, this is the third year and they are STILL asking for my ID!!! Every week!!! NO attention to detail whatsoever. Third, the ingress & egress to this facility is terrible!!! I have sent numerous communications to the school/school board and the local police......but to no avail. It's a wonder no one has been injured. As far as the actual education/schooling is concerned, my son was recently "switched/moved" to a new teacher....and needless to say.....he/I are not impressed. So, in summation.....I would rate the facility about a 2 and the school about a 5.

This school is fantastic! With three kids, I have had many different teachers and can say wholeheartedly that all the teachers have been wonderful. My children are happy here and enjoy learning. I believe the administration makes every effort to deal with issues in a timely and respectful manner. They truly care about ensuring the safety and happiness of their students. SOL testing and teaching to the test is a state-wide issue. Testing has become more rigorous for all county schools in the past few years and simply can not be a reflection of the teachers/administrators. I am proud to say my children attend SCES!

Been involved with Swift Creek Elementary for many years. What was once an amazing school has dramatically deteriorated because of current administrative leadership and forced changes by the school board. What used to be a cohesive, positive, and close knit community of teachers, students and parents has become a cold and unwelcoming environment, so much that many good staff members are choosing to leave. Despite losses, the remaining teachers are great, they do their jobs to the best of their ability and they really do love the kids. Problem is the current administrator does not give her teachers the flexibility and support they require. Teacher morale is in the toilet, no one wants to be there anymore and it's understandable, even as a visitor one can sense the tension and unhappiness upon entering the building. Swift Creek once had a great principal who gave plenty of guidance and support to the staff and it was obvious. All one has to do is look at our test scores over the last two years since the administration changed. We have experienced over a 30% drop and it's not the fault of the teachers. SCES needs an overhaul in the top seat, if it is ever to get back on top.

My children have been going to SCES for 3 years and I am disappointed to see this negative feedback. SCES is a great school with great teachers that care. The administration is no different than any other public school - this I know from other parents. I always get great service when I call. I would rather the administration be with our children, like they are instead of sitting behind a computer answering email. Our children get a great education here and are thriving. Emailing is not the way to handle an issue, it is making a phone call or stopping by that makes a difference. I recommend SCES for your child's education.

I am very disappointed in this school. There are some really wonderful teachers here, but the administration is terrible. The principal here is not supportive of the teaching staff at all. It is a constant struggle between the staff and the administration. Unfortunately, the tension can be felt as soon as you walk in the front office. You can forget about trying to get a response if you e-mail certain people. I understand that all of the staff is very busy, but at least respond to your student's parents. There is also an issue here with certain students getting preferential treatment. We moved here because this was supposed to be a great school, but our experience has definitely proven otherwise.

Teachers are wonderful but very unhappy with current principal of last two years and are beginning to leave the school. High level of stress at school and poorly managed staff firings. No communication between principal and parents even regarding drug-related arrest of teacher during school day.

We have been very pleased with this school. All schools have areas they can improve, but overall we have had a great experience with the teachers and staff. The principal calls with a weekly update for parents every Sunday!
