Great school. If you are on top of your academics, you will make it through each grade with no problem. Most bad reviews of BASIS Mesa come from kids who don't pay any attention, don't turn in homework, etc, and then wonder why they are failing and why teachers work them hard. Bullying is extremely rare, and most of the teachers actually teach well. Not as competitive as other schools, though it is not (yet) one of the best BASIS Schools, and definitely has great potential. Only downside is the lack of different sports optons: volleyball, tennis, and basketball are the major ones.

I generally thought this was a pretty good school! I actually went here for only one year in 4th grade and then moved to Scottsdale and went to Basis Scottsdale, which was actually rated way better but in my opinion, was the WORST. I thought Basis just couldn't get worse! But with Basis Mesa, I had great experiences. They made it very fun to learn. Our class had so much fun. They even taught Martial Arts which was so cool and most schools don't do that instead of PE. We got to learn another language - Mandarin. Our teacher made it very fun. We also had one main teacher to guide us through the whole school and bring us to each class. After, in 5th, you have to figure it out yourself. I actually left a much easier school because it wasn't academically challenging enough - I was bored because I knew EVERYTHING the teacher was saying. I was happy to go here as it was actually new stuff being learned. It was still a few grades ahead so if you aren't advanced in Math, for example, this school might be a bit tricky but they will totally help you out with it! They even let me do test corrections in student hours which is crazy. Basis Scottsdale never let that. So if I got an 80 on a test and fixed all my answers correctly, I'd get a half point back for each question and that test would now be a 90. A friend told me they still do that at this school even in 9th grade! I did theater club which was super fun and so were all of the electives. Students were super nice. We even had our own lockers...Honestly, it was just a great year and I definitely would have stayed there instead of Basis Scottsdale. There were events all the time and even a park right next to the school which the Martial Arts teacher took us to sometimes. Super fun and educational. Again, if you live in Mesa/Gilbert, go here!

I would rate Basis Mesa a 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend. This was the best thing I could have ever done for my kids. Here I know that their future is set.

This school is on top of it! We have communication with the teachers after every test, so kids don't get behind. Most all of the teachers really connect with the kids. My kids are not gifted in any way but are doing very well in this school. I'm so glad they are at BASIS Mesa!

Amazing teachers go above and beyond to ensure your child succeeds. This school is for those willing to put the work in. If parents/children are not willing to commit to rigorous academics, this school us not for you. If your child us bored at their current school, come to Basis, you’ll be blown away! Just remember it requires work

People who want to be at this school appreciate and thrive. It's only hard when people who don't prefer the academic curriculum or smaller intimate experience that won't simply find something that works better for them complain. This includes parents and is very unfortunate and disruptive to the families who choose to support their kids that prefer this learning and atmosphere. This administration and team of teachers go above and beyond to educate and encourage success and well being for the students. My kids thoroughly enjoy the actual education they are getting here and their friends who work and grow by their sides.

This school only cares about grades, they would rather you cheer and get an A to make the school look better than have the students actually learn and get a C

Overall my child is really thriving in this school. The teachers are amazing in making children think outside of the box. I would highly recommend for a child who has an interest to challenge themselves.

My child has needed a school that challenges and engages their students and we have found it in BASIS. The teachers have a lot of energy and make the subjects extremely interesting and they are available to provide support to the students as needed. They encourage the students to reach out if they need help. I will admit, the school is not for everyone. Be prepared for your student to need to be engaged and to work hard. As long as you set the expectations in the beginning and have the time to back them up with homework, your child will succeed.

Horrible 5th grade teachers who treat your kid as a college student. No online grading , lack of communication from teachers who don't care much and don't offer any help . If you complain they retaliate against your kid . Terrible experience, do not recommend !!

BASIS Mesa is an amazing school with amazingly passionate teachers! My 5th and 6th graders come home every day excited about what they are learning. As well as incredible academics, my children are learning valuable life skills such as time management and organizational skills. I feel blessed that my children are receiving such an exceptional education at a school they love, so close to where we live.

There were multiple poor reviews for this school and they were all removed. Basis Mesa has a constant turnover of teachers each year. At least 1/2 of the staff leave or are terminated. Every year, there is a new Head of School. The school is over crowded and houses 3rd graders with 12 graders. No play ground. Does not compare to the other BASIS schools in test scores or academic achievement.
