There are many policies at this school that are frustrating. First there are not a wide variety of classes offered, and then on top of that students are not allowed to change a class, even well in advance before the start of the semester. For example, the students pick their classes almost a year In advance with "guidance" from their counselor, so lets say your child selects welding, but you as the parent want him/her to take Spanish, its too bad because you cannot change it once the schedule is made, Or say you child gets really interested in art and wants to take that the following semester, that's too bad, he/she is stuck taking the other class (even though it hasn't started) that was picked out months ago, before realizing he/she likes art. And, if you have a problem with a poor teacher, too bad, you are stuck. Also, do not like that assignments are due whenever, no penalties, even if one hands in assignments 3 months overdue. The school could not keep track of where students were, so the solution was to have the students personally escorted everywhere, even the bathroom, instead of implementing hall monitors as other high schools do. Talk about not preparing students for responsibility and adulthood. The college success rate for this school is low and they like to brag about the ACT scores, but their average is 19-22 over the last view years. To me with the top act score being a 36 and most good colleges wanting a 26 or higher, that is not impressive.

As a self-motivated and relatively high-achieving student, I felt that there were plenty of opportunities more me to succeed here. Band and theatre programs are good (enough to get by - not necessarily well funded or super impressive) and honors/AP classes are mostly good. If the student makes an effort you can get a lot out of this school. I felt more than prepared for college.

I went to this school a few years ago and I recieved a wonderful education. It is a school that cares about its students. There have been a few teachers that were not the greatest but other made up for it.

This school has very little recognition towards academic students, they say that their motto is: "Where learning is valued, and excellence is the standard." Their motto should be revised to say: "Where sports are valued, and academics are neglected." There are three events, throughout the school year to recognize athletes, these events span a whole week for each event. Where as they only have one event at night, where they give paper awards to students who have been on honor roll.
