I have never been more disappointed in a public school. Our child was discriminated against, their IEP was not followed, it was incredibly unsafe with holds happening constantly because there was no control, a child even ran down the street towards a busy intersection. There is zero support from a horrible administration who had no idea how to handle any kind of diverse learner, their goal is to get rid of any student that does not fit their mold. They find a way to blame the child or the child’s parents instead of meeting the actual needs or trying to understand what may need to be accommodated. They suspend even kindergartners on IEP’s and try to get students to only come part-time, encourage students to leave the school, and try anything to get you to withdraw your child. Thankfully, our child moved on and is thriving in another public school and doesn’t even need accommodations at this point because the teacher and administration know what they are doing! Stay away from this school, the administration is absolutely terrible and should be investigated for their special ed practices.

Excellent overall experience for our child. The Discovery program for gifted and talented children was a stand out option.

We have been an Acres Green family for more than 7 years and the teachers and staff have shown incredible care and dedication to their students, teaching and additional opportunities.

We have been so happy with this school. The academics are strong, and the student body is very diverse, with kids from many different cultures and backgrounds, which is not the norm in Douglas County. This is one of the reasons we like the school so much. It's a wonderful neighborhood school with dedicated and caring teachers and staff. The Leader In Me program is unique, and Acres Green is a Lighthouse School, meaning it serves as a model for other schools. I have recommended this school to everyone I know with young kids, or families who are new to our neighborhood. I can't say enough good things about this place.

AGE is a hidden gem in DCSD! Did you know that it is only one of approximately 300 Lighthouse Schools around the world? Its passion for teaching the 7 Habits and empowering leadership skills in students is one of the reasons my daughter has loved her experience at AGE. Staff, students, and families work together for the success of all kids! It's truly one of the best places in the whole county!

My oldest did fine at this school, until 6th grade where we met uncompassionate teachers. We had the best 4th grade teacher, but she retired. My youngest student had a terrible time at this school. My student ended up on an IEP under threat of expulsion and a 504 plan only because an outside student advocate suggested that we look into that as well. The special education for reading I thought was amazing, but the rest of the special education was a nightmare. Instead of requesting a district behavioral specialist to come in, I didn't even know that existed, and assist the team, my student ended up being restrained most of 1st and 2nd grade years. So much to the point that now at 6th grade my student hates school, doesn't like being touched, is afraid of the police which were called due to their lack of compliance. My opinion is that people who want to be elementary school teachers must learn how to relate to children better than churning them out for tests or whatever they are trying to do.One year later I even had a former employee apologize to me and state that they had never restrained my child and didn't think that was right.I could not get my student out of this school fast enough.

We love this school! We have impressed with the staff, parents, and students. We have kids in Discovery (gifted and talented) and regular education at Acres Green. We have been there for 7 years. My kids have blossomed, are happy, and successful. This is a leader in me school where they strive to be better in everyway, especially in the community. The PTO, administration, is very involved and provide events to bring everyone together. Couldn't be happier! Highly recommended.

We absolutely love Acres Green Discovery Program. We have tried other schools in my area and this is the perfect fit for our daughter. She is challenged, has fun, and is supported in her learning. We love the chances for parent involvement, teacher attentiveness, and open communication. So glad we found this awesome school!

Great school for general education and Discovery Program kids. Special Education needs improvement for their students who can learn. Our autistic son was at grade level through 3rd grade and regressed with academics when entering special ed in the 4th grade. This could be attributed to being taught core academics by educational assistants in small groups where students were at various levels of learning. Also heard from educational assistants, that the SSN teacher did not encourage the EA to have my son participate in the general education classroom whenever possible. This school has a low number of support staff for the SSN program to meet a high number of needs. The DCSD doesn't require educational assistants have Autism training when working with Autistic students. The SSN teacher teacher doesn't follow a state approved teaching curriculum for special ed students, which is required. Teaching is modified to the point that students worksheets are concentrated solely on their current IEP goals. They miss out on a lot of what general education students learn. Even when a kid is a delayed learner, it's important to be able to show academic progress across the board.

I absolutely LOVE this school! The principle does an amazing job of communicating with parents. U girls have really flourished at this school educationally and socially. They really love going to school and the school teaches values and embraces them.

I am a studen at Acers Green. I am now in 5th grade and I gone to that school since kindergren an I have loved it there. All of the staff are amzing and care about the students.Our Principal Gina Smith and Assistant Principal Louise Wacaser are very helpful and if you have a problem will some bully then the can help. This schol is amazing and I suggest sending your kid here.

This is the worst school in douglas county. The teachers are only worried about staying on agenda rather than teaching kids the proper way to learn something. They expect the parents to teach the course from home, and don't bother talking to the principal she is the worst of all. She will turn her back on you and hope you forget about it. Please look for other options for your child.

The teachers are okay, but they do little to control the poorly disciplined students. Several incidents we witnessed but the worst was a student who assaulted a teacher that was allowed to stay. The worst part was our child was a witness and the principal allowed the student to sit with her and our child while trying to smooth things over without our knowledge. Worst administrator in any school in the area. After dealing with poor admins and average teachers, we changed schools. Regret not having done it sooner. Avoid this school for your kiddos sake.

This school is a hidden treasure. We are so pleased with the quality, dedication and character of everyone there. Our son is doing so well due to the incredible resources, talents and team work of the well-run staff that Gina Smith has in place. Having experienced the private school scene for many years, this public school has a lot to be proud of. You can see that the community appreciates what this school is doing by the excellent parent involvement in fundraising, PTO, special events, extra curriculars, etc.

Acres Green is such a great school. Gina Smith is a fantastic leader who truly cares about her staff and our children. I have children in both the Discovery Program as well as the typical school so we get to see all sides of Acres Green. Like any other school, some teachers will click well with your child's personality and some will not. I feel as tough the education that my children have received have exceeded expectations and I'm confident that choosing Acres Green as our school was the right decision. Do not look at the number rating on this website.....it does not show the true character of this school. Go in and see for yourself! You will fall in love!
