I have received nothing but rude, disrespectful, dismissive behavior from bj Hooper staff. I feel EXTREMELY discriminated and that is unacceptable!

Amazing school, wonderful caring staff, great community. Make sure you read the breakdown of school scores, because the whole number does not in any way reflect the performance of this school. I am a teacher myself in another district and I am happy to send my own child to Hooper. The principal is great with addressing concerns and the teachers that we've communicated with only want the very best for the students. So happy we bought a home in this area and found this gem of an educational institution so far north!

Sorry, but I must disagree with the previous reviews. Not sure if this school has gotten worse over the years. My middle daughter was declined the Early Childhood program because she passed their test, well 2 years later she is now in early intervention classes for Kindergarten? We knew she was struggling when we took her for the screening, I do believe she was just passed up for other reasons that are not appropriate to post. They grade students AT Level or BELOW but never follow up with what can be done to improve skills. I’m not impressed at all by this school. It’s scary these are our future leaders and we rely on schools to educate them.

Excellent! As a husband of an educator in another district and a college graduate myself, I am extremely happy with the quality of education my two children receive at BJ Hooper. I am shocked they are only rated as a 7!

Hooper boasts a positive learning environment, students are encouraging to one another as the school has worked to allow children of different abilities shine in their own way. Special education services are attentive and help students make considerable gains- this is impressive with the cut backs across the board. The teachers are kind, friendly and students feel supported and cared for. With new curriculum, the students are eagerly learning with more hands-on strategies and technology at their fingertips. We are so grateful for the staff and experience we have had so far at Hooper and look forward to the rest of our years here. Although the building is old, it is a safe, warm environment and for us, that matters most.

My child attended this school for 2 years, having transferred over from Pleviak once it closed. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences within the Lake Villa school district. The faculty, students, and families at Hooper are fantastic. The grade of education my son has received will provide him the tools to go on to older grades and continue to be successful.

My 6 year old attends BJ Hooper and it's the first year they are doing the full day Kindergarten and I must say the teachers are wonderful and she has started reading and writing. I am confident she will do great for 1st grade next year.

My special needs son has attended BJ Hooper for 4 years and has made amazing improvements with the supportive academic team at BJ Hooper. We couldn't be happier. I know that my son's education and progress are just as important to the teachers, staff, and leaders at BJ Hooper as they are to me.

Both my children attended Hooper. Very happy with the education and the teachers throughout. Both my children have excelled and are in honors classes. On my last day volunteering, there was a fire drill and I cried. I was so impressed with the students and teachers for the orderly and quiet evacuation of the school and my kids were now done at this great school! Nothing's perfect. Speak up ( nicely) for your children and volunteer, make a difference at your children's school AND they will too!

All of my children participated in the Early Childhood (preschool) program and the program and the teachers have been wonderful. They truly cared about helping my children succeed and in receiving the extra services (e.g. speech therapy, occupational therapy) that they needed. I am truly grateful my children had the opportunity to attend Early Childhood at Hooper.
