The school is wonderful. My kids loved all their teachers. They were put in harder classes when the other ones were too easy. They really make sure to keep kids challenged. Love that there is outside activity every day.

My experience has been outstanding. I do make sure that I am involved with the school as much as possible by volunteering at school events and otherwise. I feel the school is excellent and the teachers are very passionate about their jobs.

Excellent school and very nice community as well. Taxes are high but it's worth it for the school alone. Millburn is as good as other highly regarded school districts in the area, like Libertyville, and much better than the enormous school district in Gurnee (which was once good but is going downhill).

Will teach kids at their level and will not hold them back. My child is well adjusted and having fun at school. Lots of clubs. Gifted Ed throughout the day, great community. We love it.

PROS: Great test scores. special day class is above and beyond. CONS: Class size:25+. the principal doesn't how how programs run in her school (per HER). Involvement in school parties/field trips/classroom, is NOT encouraged. You sign up on the 1st day. Then volunteer parents "choose" volunteers. Each class gets 2 parents/party ONLY. If you aren't chosen, you can't go. And there aren't any special circumstances. As a parent of 6 children,ages 17-2 years old, my kids have attended many different schools, including 2 area schools. If given a choice, I'd pass Millburn up in a heartbeat and go with a neighboring school, Lake Villa or Antioch district. I would NOT base their "9" rating on being a great school with lots of opportunity to be involved in your child's education. I'd take a 6-8 rating at the other schools where you can be a part of your child's class parties and field trips. And honestly, 1st hand experience at Antioch's schools, I would venture far enough to say their learning environment is equal to Millburn. We will be leaving this school at the end of this school year. One last thing, this school requires a HEFTY registration fee (over $200) + their long supply list.

Millburn Central is an excellent all-around school even with the current trying financial times. Parents are organizing into Volunteer groups to help out teachers with larger classes this year. A lot of changes to adjust to, but the school continues to put the primary focus on the children and to provide special support for all types of needs - from disabilities to gifted. My son says it is his home away from home and he is thriving.
