My son attended this school while in the 4th and 5th grades. He had moved here from the state of Oregon. He had a learning disability but not a serious one. His 4th grade teacher was horrible. She treated him as if he were a behavioral problem which he had never been at all. She was not at all helpful with him. She seemed to only be interested in her students who were excelling, not the ones who might have been struggling a bit. Not to mention he had just moved in the middle of the school year from Oregon to NC....big cultural shock! No empathy whatsoever from this teacher. I felt so bad sending him to school every day.

We love Welcome Elementary School! Every staff member that I have come in contact with makes an effort to ensure each and every child has the best environment to learn and grow. I've been very impressed with the education level, experience, and abilities of both teachers my daughter has had in the last two years.

The front office staff is rude. They have on more than 1 occasion not given my child his snack or $ that I dropped off at the office when he had forgotten it, in time for him to actually use it. They have too many inexperienced teachers & took no thought into where they placed these first year teachers when it came to the kids success. A school dance was even held during the school day for the entire school; K-5. Only the students who were considered to be "good" 90% of the time, from the first day of school up until that point, were able to attend, while the others were left in the classrooms to do busy work. This was announced aloud to the entire class so the ones who didn't get to attend knew who was going, why they were going & why themselves would not be! To top it all off, this was done completely behind the parent's backs. This school just received a letter grade of a "C" from the state & they were only a few points from a "D." These are just highlights of the tragedies these children experience. Currently I am looking for a school to move my child to this year, & my younger children will not be attending this school either.

The teachers Let them know that they are valuable, capable human beings and that they know they can succeed. They Give them positive feedback Support them in their daily school activities, sports, dealing with life experiences. They don't put children down. They focus on what their doing right and point it out to them . The teachers make the children accountable for their actions but in a positive way that builds confidence in them
