By far the worst school in Cobb County. Between the incompetent Principal that allows racism with no formal discipline, and the teachers who pass kids no matter what, I'm not sure how they still get funding. Oh wait, that's how, they pass them to make it look like they are excelling. They accept racism spewed towards children by peers and academically they don't teach on the levels other schools are teaching. When I enrolled my child in another district they were floored at what hadn't been taught. I thought she was doing well because she was passing. Wrong. I now have to spend money to get her caught up. The school board should investigate this.

Hayes is outstanding. I love the teachers, the diversity and the staff. My son received intervention and understanding for his anxiety, and is learning at a high level. Because of the misleading school ratings system, many affluent families abuse school choice to go to a wealthier school. This of course makes fundraising and finding parent volunteers more challenging. Hayes deserves community support.

We absolutely love Hayes! The staff and teachers truly care about each and every student. Our son is in 3rd grade and I cannot say enough good things about all the amazing teachers he has had thus far. I agree with the other reviewer that change is sometimes necessary at school and it can be a good thing. The teachers are making sure our children are getting the most out of every day by providing them with the best possible learning environment. Our son has thrived because his teachers understand how he learns and they help him in every way. They keep the lines of communication open with us and that is so very important. We look forward to two more years of learning at Hayes!!

I am a Cobb teacher, and I could send my kids anywhere in the district. I stick with Hayes and would choose Hayes given all my options. I think it’s important for my kids to be in a diverse, loving, effective learning environment. Our neighborhood school ended up being the best choice by far.

ParentOverall experienceThe review below makes me sad, because a school that hires more teachers to make sure that class sizes stay small does not deserve to be punished for doing so. My child is not in 1st grade and was not moved, but I would encourage parents to wait and see how things work out with a new teacher and new class, and be thankful that a school cares about the students enough to prevent classes from becoming over crowded. Change is inevitable in life...and sometimes it is good! We have been happy at Hayes so far...

I feel like their is discrimination at Hayes Elementary. My daughter and I are devastated. We had high hopes for this school and it has turned out to be a heartache for my daughter and I. We are a military family that has moved around quit a bit. My husband and I have gone through great lengths to make sure that our children would start the school year in there perspective classrooms with out change. After 2 weeks we were notified that the classes were over crowed and that they were moving my daughter to a new class room. My daughter and I were devastated. I sent multiple emails to the Principal and other administrators and even went to the school explaining our situation and how the change would not be conducive for my child. All of the administrators have continued to brush me off. They have made my daughter and I feel as though they care less about her well being. My daughter is such a bright, sweet, loving girl. Unfortunately, just as I thought, she has came home from school feeling down. Telling me how she saw her old friends at the play ground and now she feels like an outcast. She feels as though she is not good enough to be in the class that she started in. If I could pull my daughter out of this school I would. No one wants there child to feel this way.

We have been at Hayes for 4 years now and could not be happier. My daughter is thriving and being challenged. The teachers are phenomenal and very supportive. There are so many valuable resources available for parents and students. The Leader in Me program holds students accountable and promotes them to be a leader and take ownership of their education. The numbers don’t lie, Hayes is proving it’s the awesome school everyone is saying it is. Don’t believe the outdated rumors.

Look closely at the numbers here. Student progress is 8/10, and progress / test scores for most students are very high, even compared with other well rated schools in the area. Teachers here are highly educated and highly motivated. Lots of programs to help kids excel. Diversity is celebrated. Overwhelming parent and community support. Those who attend are lucky they didn't listen to outdated rumors....Hayes is something special.

The teachers at Hayes are truly amazing, and the retention rate of teachers was 100% last year - that tells you something! Hayes is a diverse school with unique opportunities for all students of all levels. Great preparation for the real world! My kids have thrived here.

Hayes is a diverse school, a place where all feel welcome. The teachers are incredibly hard working and have pushed my child to be her best! I have watched my child soar thanks to the dedication of teachers & administration. Hayes is a real slice of life. A beautifully diverse school where the children have opportunities to grow both academically and culturally.

Hayes is a great school. There is a leader that isnt afraid to do what needs to be done to make our school great. There are teachers that love to teach and are willing to go above and beyond. There are students from every walk of life that learn together, play together, and learn to live as a diverse community coming together to make great things happen. There are parents who care to get involved and together we make a family. The leader in me program is amazing. Hayes is steadily improving in so many ways. Great things are happening here. We are proud to be a part of this school

Excellent teachers...love the Leader in Me program and what it has done for the kids at Hayes. Definitely a feeling of family and acceptance of everyone here. Special programs such as tutoring, clubs, and a superior music, science, technology and counseling program make for a great overall school experience.

Any Student Any School Anywhere can only perform great things when there is a great parent or teacher supporting them. We are lucky to have both great parents and teachers at Hayes Elementary.Amazing !!

Something definitely off about this school. The influx of positive comments in the past few months seems suspicious to me considering this school has gone down from a 6 to a 5 to a 4 in the past few years. We moved our kids out of this school because both of them seemed off a bit. One was not thriving or learning, we're finding they're significantly behind now that we're at another school. And the other, was constantly barraged with behavior complaints that they never had at their previous school nor have at their current school.Neighbor a few doors up from us has complained constantly, this year and last year, about a bully to the principal who doesn't take any action but simply reminds the parent they have a "no tolerance rule" for bullying. I've spoken with faculty who have now transferred out of this facility who say they're glad to be out.If it weren't for Cobb School Choice program, we would have moved rather than continue to subject our kids to this school.

I am very happy with Hayes. My children have learned and grown so much in the 3+ years we have been here. The teachers go out of their way to teach, love, and nurture, and support the children on many levels. The administration has always been quick to resolve any issues that have come up and have made every effort to provide a safe and educational program for my children during the day. I have no doubt that my girls are getting a high quality education. If i could do it all over again, id choose Hayes in a heartbeat!
