This is an excellent school. My 3rd child started kindergarten this year. Most teachers are long term, and really engaged with the students (some even attend children's events in support on the weekends, really above and beyond.) I LOVE the teachers my children have had. My children have a sense of pride in their school and ownership in their education. This school currently has a large population of English as Second Language (ESL) classes. The ESL classes are separate from the 'normal' classes, which makes the school feel divided. And, because of the language barrier, the parents never mix either. There also seems to be a high population of kids with special needs in the classrooms. I like that they are included to normalize, but I am also concerned that it is a distraction to learning.

Well established school, boundaries are locked in so children have a clear path to Jr High and then High School. Great teachers with lots of fun programs parents can participate in the classroom. Wonderful PTA.

Relocated to Katy from West Houston. Great school, great teachers, great kids. PTA is motivated and inclusive. My child is doing well and his teacher is making his first year there most enjoyable and productive. The front office staff let the rest of the team down. Don't let them fool you though, James William Elementary is a warm and friendly place to be.

This is a great school! My daughter is on the autism spectrum. We moved last year just so she could attended this school. She gets all the modifications she needs. Her teacher is amazing. She goes above and beyond for all her kids. I'm so glad we made the decision to move. Can't wait for another great year. The office staff is great. I don't think they are rude in anyway.

I forgot to mention the front office staff is extremely rude! The admin lack basic manners when speaking to parents.

I've observed a lot of school principals, and Ronnie Lee is the laziest principal I've ever seen. He's hardly ever around except if it's an event where a lot of parents will be showing up. This school could be so much better, but it needs better leadership from someone that the kids and teachers actually see more than on occasion. Also, the admin culture is paranoid and vindictive to those who question their authority. Beck Jr. and CRHS have been great, though.

We chose where to live based on this school. But I think the teachers are hit and miss. Clearly, the school delivers good results but the teacher my son has has been completely unhelpful to someone coming in from out of state. Her behavior is passive aggressive and sulky. We will stick with the school in the hope that his next teacher is better. If not, we will move. The PTA is very supportive and the front office on the whole are helpful and caring.

I am devastated after my son has been there for a few months since we moved here from another state . He liked the new school in the beginning, then he kept complaining, saying the teacher did not like him. I went to talk with the teacher and she told me you kid is smart , but we would have to give chances to other kids. I guess that is because my son likes to answer the questions in the class which some how irritated her. Later on I talked to my son to see what exactly what happened and he told me that he just tried to answer questions when no one could answer it or just did not want to answer it. My son used to be a top student at his previous school and no one had complained about him, now he just could not thrive here. He started getting marks (which means bad behavior at classroom). It has been a nightmare to us. I agree the parent involvement at this school is excellent and I joined the PTA as well and volunteer there as much as I can. But that teacher just does not know how to handle the kids in my opinion.
