Not like it used to be. Unprofessional teachers, counselors, and coaches. Coaches lead by playing mental games with students/athletes. Due to a teacher/coach employee shortage, the new principal chooses to be in denial and pretends everything is fine. Students aren't a priority in this school. Very unfortunate that residents are still paying high taxes for poor-quality education.

Preposterous! This school started flooding like a wet coochie on a friday night. Water poured from the ceiling flooding the school and students were not allowed to leave the building. There was also a foul stench slithering down the halls- come to find out it was a moldy piece of cheese put in the bathrooms to stink up the school. Worst part is you won’t even know if it’s the smell of the cheese or the students! stay as FAR AWAY as possible. run.

HORRIBLE!! These “educators” DO NOT care about the student and if they pass or fail. The teachers will not communicate with you. These people will never give you a heads up there’s a problem w your child’s grades but will happily send you an email AFTER they fail. Please note they charge for summer school. I wholly believe these teachers have preconceived ideas about minorities and absolutely treat these kids like numbers. The teachers are overloaded and subsequently don’t give a dern about anything other than getting through the day. Ironically the classes my child fails are the ones she says the teachers are less interactive w the student not shocking SINCE THEY DON’T even reach out. If you have the time to send an email to say they failed you have the time to send an email saying they may not pass to give people a chance to address I don’t have a nanny or a maid I am doing this on my own. What is the dang teacher job if not to ENSURE success NOT FAILURE. I truly believe money and race influence the student experience here.

This school is great. The teachers are very involved. You have a very wide spectrum of subjects in the curriculum and the educational level is very high.

I have 2 kids enrolled at CRHS. Great faculty, happy kids that are being challenged and learning. I'm glad I specifically chose where we are living so my kids would attend CRHS. They'll be ready for college when it's time.

At CRHS, there appears to be a lot of institutional "bullying" and it is kept very quiet among the students. Many of these students are going into the restrooms to fight and there is no supervision by the faculty or staff to monitor these incidents. There is reportedly a significant number of fights during the lunch periods at this school. Many of the students that are being picked on, end up fighting to defend themselves and still end up with a (3) Day In-School Suspension and a Ticket from the Katy ISD Police Department. This is a very large school with plenty of students that are eager to fight all the time. Drugs are also reportedly on an "all time" high at this school as well. I would seriously think twice before sending your child to this school.

As a parent that has graduated two boys from Cinco Ranch High School, I can tell you that I am very happy with our decision to place our children there. I will admit that it is an extremely competitive school and they have a zero tolerance policy on drugs and fighting which I love. As a Realtor that has been working in this area for more than 20 years, I can tell you that I have had many clients that have initially complained about how hard this school is coming in from outside the area and state. However, given about a year to adjust, the kids end up falling in love with the school and the parents are usually ecstatic about the end results and improvements in their child. Both of our boys chose to go to the military prior to college and so the education that had received thus far allow them to choose any job they wanted because they scored so high on their (ASVAB)military entrance exam. I will say that if you want the most out of the school, they urge parents to get involved and stay involved.

They charge people for the classes and they do not have much variety. I am only going for the first semester and then I am moving back to Cambridge Massachusetts and live with some room mates so that I can go to a better school. The suburban neighborhoods suck because everyone has no idea what the real world is like.

I graduated from CRHS in 2006 and now teach elementary school in Katy ISD. I feel as though CRHS was a great school and really prepared me for college. College was such a breeze for me! I will say, I think the reason some people rate this school poorly is because of their lack of strength academically and their issue with authority. My brother was supposed to be a 2009 graduate and it ended up dropping out. He could not handle the amount of authority the school projected and the "cookie cutter" nature of the students. However, he said he regretted it later. He now goes to University of Texas and is doing great.

This is my son's school and I'm as a parent, very proud to say that it is a wonderful school. Teachers, parents and school staff work together to make a very safe and high quality educational site for the students. I will recommend this school to others.

Fine arts: choose seven lakes, taylor or morton ranch. Theater at CRHS has been downsized from what is was and if you are moving here for the schools and you are theater focused, you might want to look at Seven Lakes or Taylor. They are much more serious about their theater department : they have expanded as opposed to downsized and have less restrictions for joining the comedy sportz and outside theater events. The choir department is good but the rehearsal schedules are insane. They decided to do their own musical this year since theatre only does every other year. Other great musical theater schools are Stratford or HSPVA.

In my opinion CRHS is a very good school. The teachers, the counselors and the school board members really seem to care about their students. I attended CRHS as an exchange student in 2006 and had problems to settle in. The teachers asked me how I am, the counselor took her time to advice me and the school board was very cooperative letting me change the classes I had chosen in the beginning. As far as I can say, the students are nice and helpful. There were students who were very dedicated in school and in their free time. I would have liked to make friends with them but they sometimes seemed too busy with their homework. An improvement might be to give the students in the AP classes not much more homework but only a bit more demanding tasks than in the other classes. However, that might just be my impression. The school has a great variety of extracurricular activities ranging from photogrophy club to French club and also different kind of sports. It would have been great if there was a school bus for the kids who want to attend these activities in the afternoon and who don't have a car. Looking back, I think I learned something at CRHS e. g. writing an essay in English.

People think that it's really just a privileged white kid school and sometimes they're right, but our staff is extremely responsible and the worst case scenario of a teacher is that they're too off topic and do not teach the material thoroughly enough. The worst case student is just someone who doesn't care enough or gossips too much and the real bullying here is exclusion. But people graduating from this school definitely have a good sense of right and wrong and compassion for others.

I recently graduated from Cinco Ranch High School. I have to say the school is very safe and protected. Students really do look out for each other. I love our teachers, but there can be some improvement. I took academic English all four years and I have to say I really regretted doing so. I wanted to switch to Pre-Ap, but the gap was to big. Every year it was the same thing. Read assigned books, write essays and reports. I wish we could have gone over our grammar. Things like predicate or gerunds, but instead we keep going over similies and metaphors(not helpful for SAT). Otherwise our math program is great along with all the other subjects.

Glad it is obvious the folks who gave 3 or fewer stars have kids that are not willing to work to meet the higher expectations of CRHS. With those lower stars pulling down the overall star rating down you know this is greater than a 4 star school. My kids are well prepared for college. If a diploma is all you want go to Morton Ranch or Mayde Creek ...to have your kid prepared for college chose CRHS.

What a disappointment this school has been for us. We moved to Katy primarily for the schools, and we wish we knew more about this school before enrolling. With the HUGE campus, huge enrollment numbers, and overstretched staff, our student is just a number. Combine that with excessive state testing, there is unnecessary stress on the kids, staff, and parents. It seems as though teachers are really stressed out here and they pass that on to the kids. Learning (and teaching) seems to be secondary to passing state tests and achieving exemplary status. Truly a disappointment! And, yes, we're looking for a new school in a different district.
