I have been a member of the RAE community for over 10 years and see amazing things happening everyday. The community is full of caring people who support all students and staff. There is a village mentality and the administrators, teachers, and staff really care about the kids and want to work as partners with parents to help all students be successful. There are high expectations and everyone is expected to do their part to keep everyone safe. If there is ever a problem or concern, I would highly recommend contacting your child's teacher first, then if you need additional support, the assistant principals and principal are always willing to help. RAE is really a wonderful place!

As parents, we are not the most involved with the PTA or school activities as we would like due to work. However, we have found that we have very supportive teachers. Granted we are only Kinder/1st grade parents. Our teacher and the school itself have been beyond helpful. Our child had issues in certain areas of learning and completion of tasks. With the notes and helpful strategies, we helped our child become more confident and able to succeed in these areas. We have seen the comments on the principle and have no experience with that relationship, but we can speak on our teachers and support staff at this school and have to say that the effort and passion given by them have created one of the most beautiful and safest places for our children to go to school. I have no idea how they have this endless patience and boundless happiness to create such a bright place for the kids. They greet and talk to nearly all the kids every morning at the entrances and try to get to know the kids walking the halls. This alone should show how much effort this staff is putting into an engaging environment for our kids. There are a lot of school activities outside of normal school hours that help get parents and kids together to socialize. The safety protocols at the school are strict (thank god) and yet still polite/inviting. Finally, the playground and the upkeep of it are great. I do admit, as an 80's child, I am used to logs on the ground as my playground as a reference point.

I would echo previous comments regarding leadership lacking, teacher engagement is at an all-time low, and general apathy for the children's education is palpable. There is little to no communication from teachers and referencing Canvas for curriculum which is just a smattering of educational bits to "guide" you in helping support your child at home. Lessons are quickly reviewed, tested, and then the class moving on rather than caring for comprehension or even time for kids to digest new material. My child came home noting the teacher was "too busy" to do small group instruction or simply forgot about their Friday writing day. The quality of the education has taken a steep decline this year and I feel my pre-school had a better pace and curriculum. I know there are quality educators in the building, but unfortunately, they are so diluted with the ones just showing up that its affected education overall. Sadly, it appears retaining talent wasn't a top priority of the leadership team.

Amazing school. Our three girls have excellent teachers that have helped them grow in every subject.

Teachers don't care about student engagement. Many parents complain and ask each other what subject the children are studying, the teachers do not communicate, so that the parents can’t accompany and better prepare their children for the tests. They only communicate the test a day or two before the test date. Some parents have the feeling that children go to school to play. The principal is at all school social events. The IPE program do not work at this school, the child has to have a very visible disability to be recognized for their rights, even children with medical reports proving their needs and which, in my view, leaves parents in a very uncomfortable situation. There are some thefts inside the classrooms and no one takes great action. in my opinion that school works hard in status and to make the parents happy for no complaint about anything that it. All students on beginning of the year don’t have a good grades and they put pressure on parents. And in the last period the students completely change the grades to very good. Basically, the numbers and results are manipulated so that the school can show that this child has progressed. Students enter middle school basically unprepared. The engagement of parentes is only on the social events (that school have a lot) and volunteers when’d the school need.

The principal has to go Hobin is awful she doesn’t care about the social or emotional well-being of her students. Taking to her is like talking to a brick wall. There is no empathy or understanding from her. These last 2 years have been the worst for my children’s education. I am going to pull my child from this school anything has to be better than this! My child is a straight A student.

There is truthfully no other way to say it than the principal has to go. I am close enough to my child's teachers, past and present, to ask them how this year is going truthfully and they have all said the same thing. Teachers cannot thrive on poor leadership.

The principal is very much so focused on outward appearance rather than the well-being of her staff. She plays favorites to the extreme and doesn’t realize half the things going on between her staff. The culture here is horrible. Don’t work here if you can help it and if you send your kids here, know that the majority of the staff disagrees with admin and doesn’t want to be there.

We have been at RAE many years. I believe it has set a firm foundation upon which my children can build the rest of their education upon. Amazing caring teachers and leadership. Great student body diversity! RAE is unique in that the community of Grand Lakes can only attend. Additionally all RAE students are zoned to Beckendorff Junior High. This creates high unity! Love RAE!

We love our school, staff is warming and welcoming and the teachers are approachable and looking for the well-being of our kids. We love the diversity and the different events thru out the year that the school supports to include all families in the development of our kids.

My son was in this school and he was an ESL student and He didn't get enough ESL support. Also, there are many new teachers that are not experienced. If your child ESL consider twice to send this school.

The school has too many new teachers that are not experienced. There is huge difference among the teachers in the same grade.

My son is currently in the 5th Grade. We enrolled him last year in the 4th grade, just a few weeks in, we were pressurized to move him down to the 3rd grade! Knowing that he had a lot to catch up on since he enrolled at the end of Oct, and that he's had a totally different academic environment back in Dubai! I was literally harassed, phone calls and constant pressuring emails from his homeroom teacher that he needs to concentrate and needs to focus! Within a few months he got the hang of it and did remarkably well, his STAAR results were so good that I wanted to call them back and say'I told you so' but I let it be! It's overcrowded and I just didn't like the way my son's situation was handled!

This is a great school located in a great neighborhood. The teachers and staff are special and have engaged our students to do there best. Our oldest was struggling to find interest in school when we moved to this school a couple years ago. Since then, he is engaged and loves his time with his teachers and at school. Keep up the good work!
