This school strongly discourage parent involvement. And, when you do contact teachers or administrators, or question actions or methods, they will discriminate against your student and harass your student. The math department is awful. 80% of the grade is based on tests and they have their own workbook with no examples or instruction. So, the instruction is all done in class. So, when the students do their homework, they would have to look something up online, yet the teachers teach it a different way. The math department head is horrible and they have awful methods. Even the order they teach the math is bad. They don't give the proper base first - they do the complex work first, then later in the year teach the base which helps explain that complex item. There is a reason why they have such a LOW performance in math, less than 10%. Students or parents better be good at math so they can teach themselves, if they want to succeed, as they aren't going to learn it in the math classes. And, they will work on a subject for 4-5 weeks, then have 3-4 questions on a test. If a student misses one question, they can possibly fail, depending on the point value of that one. The methods aren't made for the students to learn - they don't go over what they did wrong and work with the students on reworking problems the correct way. And, there is no innovation in their math teaching methods. And, they don't use real-world examples so the students find it hard to relate to what they are learning as they don't see realistic examples of how the math is used.Except for that, other departments at this school are great. The sciences, language arts, and social sciences are creative and focused on the students not only learning the material but enjoying what they are learning. The principal is fantastic and most of the teachers really care about the students. But, it is just this math department which uses awful techniques and methods, not conducive to student learning. Also, the school doesn't allow parents to be part of the decision making process when selecting courses. They just contact the student and the parent isn't even notified that course decisions were made or what those decisions are, and they aren't allowed to know until the first day of school, even though these decisions are made 6 months in advance when a counselor meets with a student. Other schools send the course selection worksheet home so parents can consult with their student.

All schools can improve and so can Tahquitz but I will highlight some of the things they are doing right. They provide a lot of technology to use, if you ask for help they have tutors and even online tutors available 24hrs a day. A chromebook is provided for each student. I have known the staff to be friendly and helpful in all the situations I have brought to their attention.

I'm very disappointed in the leadership at this school. Just yesterday there was a fight on campus that involved parents and students. While they were fighting all of the administrators stood back watching. Allowing a student to break up the fight. Again , poor leadership!

I believe that this school has been the best school that I've been too. The teachers really care about their students and their grades and making sure they graduate which is very important. this school helped me a lot and I am so thankful with all the faculty and friends I met along the way. I really recommend this school, graduated this year and now my brother a junior and my other brother a freshman will be going there. If you plan on moving to hemet make sure you enroll them here at Tahquitz.

Not to happy with a school that does not care about education. Tried to get work for my kid who was Sick and miss two days, they would not get the work for me. The attendance showed my kid unverified absent but we had dr. Nots that they some how lost and tried to give saturday school. Teachers saying she has missing work but they have a grade on them so they did not recoded the grade. If a school cared about education they would be their for the student and parent to improve education.

Great kids, great ASB, great teachers. Needs to build up dance program though in order to build on available elective classes offered.
