Whew boy, where do I start? As an 8th grade student, this place is HORRIBLE... Most of the teachers are rude (especially the ELA teachers), the bathrooms are gross, and as someone with depression, this place barely gives any social-emotional support. I literally only get a 10 minute break in a random room. And oh my God, SO MUCH BULLYING. This place is so bad, despite it being top in the state...So yeah. DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL.

I am an 8th grade student here, and I really enjoy going here. I have enjoyed every teachers class that I have had, I am also in the Orchestra and I can say it is one of the best things about Conner. I have done well with my grades, except over covid, I was able to pull my grades up to A's in all but one class, even though I struggled very much. The class I didn't get an A in had a teacher who refused to answer my messages with questions despite saying that they would be there to answer them, the book pages got messed up, and over all instructions just weren't clear. The other thing I have a complaint about is how they deal with kids who need to learn differently. Other than that I enjoy going to Conner, I love the teachers, they make class engaging. They tell jokes even when they are trying to teach and they actually want to be involved with us and make sure we do well, at least that's how its been for me with my teachers so far. I haven't had many encounters with the office staff or anyone other than teachers and students, and I have never done anything to be punished for, so I cant weigh in on that.

Teachers are great but office staff is horrible. They don't recognize honor roll but do honor society. It's all about the popular kids.

I'm an 8th grade student in this school, and a lot of factors about this school are bad. Firstly, a lot of the school is unsanitary. The floors are horribly stained and forever dirty, the bathrooms are always musky and have a strange smell to them, as if they weren't properly cleaned, and some classrooms had giant patches of mold on the ceiling. Their punishments are either nonexistent or overblown. Sometimes we have issues where students may leave a few bottles and maybe an apple core in the gym, and the every student in the grade gets punished for it. They expect all 8th graders to work as one team, but they don't understand that some of us are just jerks who don't care about the concequences. As for other situations, I have literally been mildly assaulted here. At an after school tutoring session, two boys repeatedly slapped by butt, despite me demanding that they stop. I reported them to a teacher, the teacher told the principle, and after almost a month, those two STILL have not been punished. One was even able to transfer schools with nothing happening to him. There is also a few minor things like outright stupid dress code rules, discusting lunch, and a rediculous policy on phones.

I also live in the Boone district and teach at CMS. I also am glad to send my child to CMS.I have been an educator for 11 years and have had experiences in several great schools across the state. I am very proud to teach at a school that not only supports me as an educator but our students as well. CMS makes it very easy for students to get involved and connected. We offer state of the art personalized learning and also students can take a more traditional route. Not only do we start with kids excelling in all academic areas we also have the highest student growth in the district. I along with almost every other teacher in this building love going to work each day to educate, nurture, mentor and care for the students of Boone county. I am sorry a few of you have had bad experiences. If you would have contacted myself or nearly any other teacher we would have listened with open ears and an empathetic heart to try and help your student to not only get a great education but to love and get involved in our CMS community.

Im a teacher at cms and I believe we have a very difficult school and I do agree where you said that the average kids struggle. My son goes to cms and he is average and gets c's im hoping that another teacher will see this and spread the word about our poor school

My daughter's teachers lost her papers 3 times now, and counted it as missing. They felt foolish once they found those papers. Not only that, but she feels uncomfortable. Kids are just cruel there. They are unsanitary and is reported that the lunch is disgusting.

We have had several of our children attend this school and all have begged us over the years to move so they can attend another school. We have had difficulty with the Principal who has a better then you, I can do what I want and when I want to do it and there is not holding him accountable by the District Office even when documents show and indicate so. Having no other choice, we deal and work the best we can within the circumstances. The school wants to portray it is going to be the best but don't demonstrate it by any means and the site based council "Zero Homework Turn-in Policy" is just another attempt to punish the students and parents. Lets look into why so many students are not completing assignments and see where the problems really are.

Had a great experience with some teachers. The principal has been disrespectful and arrogant in his interactions with me and my spouse. He is more interested in maintaining his authority than showing compassion and meeting the needs of his special ed students. We are leaving the school. I am worried about students with autism in this setting.
