I went to Camp Ernst all three years and it was nothing but terrible. From the first day I walked through the doors I was harassed, threatened and treated no where near equal. I am a female and I dressed different than what people in society would consider "normal". I was pushed in the hallways and as soon as I got on the school bus I was told to kill myself and barked at like I was a dog. I would not recommend sending your child/children here. The councilors would tell me that I should stop being myself/quit dressing the way i felt comfortabe if I wanted it to stop. I was coerced to not tell my parents because "they will handle it". They would never tell the full story to my parents if contacting them was "needed". I would get punished for defending myself while the kids that harassed me would walk off like nothing happened. They did this because the staff wouldn't do anything about their behavior, it's not just kids being kids. This is learned and since they never got any repercussions they will go on thinking it is okay to treat people terribly. Would not recommend to anyone with children that are anything other than hateful. It will ruin your child's mental health.

I went to the school and sorry for my language, but it was hell. Girls would pull my hair from the very first day. I wore ankle boots and was called a pole dancer. They followed me one day until I got onto my bus and yelled at me confronting a rumor I did not do, a rumor I would never think to have done. All I heard was yelling. I tried to keep my mouth shut and my head down. Once I got onto my bus, I tried not to cry, but as soon as I sat down, I felt the weight of tears in my eyes fall. Little did I know that there was one of the girls on the bus she had recorded me having a mental breakdown and posted it on Snapchat. I didn’t find out until the week after when I had told the principal all that had happened was I wrote down everything that happened on a paper. Nothing was done in the situation. They never did anything to stop these girls from traumatizing me and giving me PTSD. I no longer can open my mouth without feeling scared that I will be told to shut up I can no longer drop a pencil without having that fear that I will be told I have aids. And I can no longer have that confidence I had a year ago before all of that. Please do not send your child here and if it is a last resort, pray for your child because they will either be a victim or have victims they may be the nicest kid, but that school may turn them into a victim or a predator. Nothing was done about these bullies, and it seemingly gets worse every year. I only went to that school one year, 175 days of hell I pray for your child.

School is not handling bullying. Culture is not supportive of learning. Teachers do not communicate with parents. Students' behavior is escalating quickly towards violence.

I'm a current student at camp Ernst Middle School, the teachers are no help when it comes to home life. All the counselors/teachers do is stick their nose in your business and GOSSIP among one another. And the racism is AMONG out of control, there has been multiple times students have ripped off hijabs off Muslim women. There is one teacher that is helping this school, Mr.Jordan. The counselor told many students that being gay isn't a thing and shouldn't be "infecting" our heads. Please don't send your child(s) here.

i am currently a student at CEMS and if you are a parent i wouldn't recommend sending your child here. My experience was terrible, i got bullied as soon as i stepped a foot into that school for stuff i couldn't control, i also got death threats, called dirty names, and even thrown into lockers. the teachers would stand in the hallways and talk halfway through the class. in my opinion they are very bad at dealing with bullies, i am a female and when i got thrown into the lockers at CEMS my males i had no choice but to defend myself so i pushed him off lightly and i got in school suspension while he walked around like nothing happened. Unless your child isnt unique i would recommend not sending you child(s) here.

honestly I would rate my experience a 3/5 and that's only because I had the best teachers in eighth grade. If i didn't have good teachers then the rating would be a zero. The principal didn't know what she was doing, the office didn't do what they are supposed to, and the students were treating others horribly. Fights and bullying was happening every day and the staff did nothing about it ( with the exception of a few teachers) and overall was a mess.Camp Ernst needs to get it together. Highly do not recommend sending your kids to this school.

This is an amazing school if the student applies himself/herself. The teachers will not do the work for the child (ahem ...), but they care and take an interest in their students' education. Good students will excel; bad students won't. Bottom line.. My child went to this school, and I was incredibly impressed with the teachers and administrators. Upon transferring out of town and into a new school in a top academic area, my child was at the top of her class after having attended Camp Ernst. As for the student body and parents ... well, it's small town Burlington ... Boone County. There are some good kids, but many, many rude kids with lots of drama and no social skills at all ... which is a parenting failure, not a school failure. Again, it's Burlington. If you're not a 3rd generation Boone Countian or if you are not "small town" ... you won't fit in. Period. But again, the school and staff, OUTSTANDING.

I'm currently a student at CEMS , I am in the 8th grade and have gone there for all my Middle School years . All this hate is uncalled for this school is the best school. All the teachers are really nice , and have really amazing teaching skills . I will admit in the 7th grade & in Health there is some favoriting going on , but not all the time , the teachers may pick favorites but that just means they laugh with them more after class it doesn't affect any of the students learning . & yes there is drama and it ALL gets taken care of . I highly recommend this school I wouldn't change schools for anything .
