I gave 4 stars based on my daughter's 2 years experience here. She excelled academically, had good teachers & had a wonderful middle school experience w/ her friends. However, in my opinion, Winton needs a new principal that would highlight the schools' academic abilities & their good performing students & just change the school's environment. This school needs more "adult supervision" in handling violence & safety w/ the students by informing the parents of such activities/ police involvement, & with their yearbook. For the past 5 years, I think this school has not improved w/ their test scores, it's still below California standards. Their yearbook 2022-2023 is an embarrassment & not sure how it was approved to be published & distributed to students. It looked like a kid's social media page w/ blurry images. Highlight your students who contribute to the betterment of your school, highlight their talents, skills & academic performance that brings pride to Winton Middle School! And, not put an inappropriate photo of a student front & center that looked like he's licking a finger (in my opinion). It's a page right after all the photos of principal, teachers & staff were. Also, hopefully, they can invest on a better camera for student photographers to use.Your Yearbook should represent everyone, every group or organization at Winton, staff & students. It should give you pride when you look at it. Come on Winton! You can do better than this! Hopefully, this year will be a better year for this school because there are teachers & staff who are doing their job & try to make it right for their students. HUSD need to observe on what's happening to their schools especially at Winton because generally Hayward students are good, smart, talented & skilled. Encourage them & embrace them all, you will see a difference & improvement in our schools here. I wish you all the best!

Teachers and staff believe that all students can learn and meet high standards. While recognizing that some students must overcome significant barriers, theseobstacles are not seen as insurmountable. Students are offered an ambitious andrigorous course of study! Winton Middle School is a place to go!

Winton Middle School is Amazing!!!! This is my first year here as a 7th grader and it's only been a few weeks into the school year but I can already tell that i'm going to love it here!! The Principal Ms.Tess really cares about us students and she cares a lot about this school! The teachers are great, my classmates are nice and they serve healthy, yummy lunches and breakfast!!FOR FREE!!!! As a Hispanic they have really added a lot here since my older brother came here in 2013-14. They have a lot of clubs and they have Puente and Avid!! I'm in Puente and my teacher, Ms. Garcia is really nice and funny!! Winton has changed a lot since it's early years and i'm really happy and glad I go here! :) -Mayra A.S

I am proud to be a student at Winton. We have so many programs that reflect and support my culture. We have mariachi, baile folklorico, and bilingual classes for added support. Winton is a great place to be and I'm proud that I attend this school.

Winton Middle is a NIGHTMARE!!!!!! The Vice Principal and a few teachers and admin are very good, however the students are horrible. It may not be so much the kids fault, because kids can only get away with what their parents will let them get away with. Most of the kids at Winton do not understand why they are at school, however that may be more of a cultural problem. The reality is education is not part of many of these kids culture. As a teacher on multiple occasions I was physically threatened by students and the Principal did not care. Students will not do any classwork but act as if they are educational experts!

Students who act up and stop other children from learning do not get punished. My daughter told me how a boy in her class hit another child in the privates and was not suspended. I even hear about how when teachers call security that no one comes. The teachers do not want to stay at that school, either. Each year there are lots of new teachers. There is no gangs, but it is not like the kids are learning much when bad students prevent teachers from doing their job and the principal doesn't do anything. I'm not Hispanic but no one in the office speaks Spanish. The principal does not try to get parents involved. We don't hear anything about what's going on.

Any parent/student considering this school has to be out of their minds. My home got broken into. (see how often police are at the school). I hear terrible language as students hit the street (Can only imagine what is happening in class). Friend said the principal never keeps his word to the parents. Frustrating for the community because we are paying for better. Please do something board of ed.

I like this school, but there are some things I don't like. Many students are rude, disrespectful, and could care less about their grades. Some teachers are unfair. Nobody likes the principal and vice. There's too many fights this year than last year. This is my last year in Winton. I doubt the 7th graders would ever take 8th grade seriously. -.-

This School Is Hella Fun And Yes I Do Go Here! :D I Think It Is A Great School Filled With Great Students And There Are Some Good Teachers But Some Teachers Need To Go Back To School To Learn How To Teach Cuz They Just Yell At Us An Say Do This And They Dnt Give Details Or Examples.... HORRIBLE! But Other Then That It Is A Great School!
