I would not recommend that any child attend this school. This school is unsafe and dangerous for children, as there is no punishment for bullying. We are new to this area, and my 7th grader was assaulted in the bathroom during PE by a student much larger than him. My son reported it to the counselors and principal and they did nothing. He was afraid to return to school because they would not suspend or expel the student who attacked him. In the end, we had to homeschool our child for the rest of the school year. When we mentioned not bringing our child back to school, the principal (Seana Condit) was only concerned about him missing state testing. She had zero concern for the safety of children at this school. The student who assaulted my son is still on campus.

My son has found amazing friends from this school. Everyone talks about how great teachers are and an excellent overall environment is at the school.

Great school! Staff are communicative and mindful. Principals work well to solve any problems. Never had an issue here. My kids love it.

Test Scores - My daughter's CASSP test improved from her previous year in elementary. She's of the belief that the test scores don't really mean anything as her friends are excellent students, however, sitting in front of a computer screen for hours on end is not for them. They can outscore her all day every day ...except the day of the CASSP testing. She just is better at perseverance ... its a character trait, not an academic one. So please look past the CASSP score and come visit this school. She has language and Math credits for High School and YEP has enabled her to gain college credits. The counselors help monitor their progress and are there to aid them when they stumble academically. My children and their friends have been given so many opportunities and experiences, from joining decision-making committees to being invited to Washington D.C to participate in a student conference. It has empowered my children to speak up and be heard, this is the gift Bret Harte has given to our family

I would rate this school a 9/10 I took off one point because of the facility lack of parking and for the wildlife, my student is scared of birds and there seems to be a lot of bird on their playground. But if your student isn't afaird of birds you should be good to go.

This school does what it's supposed to do. The teachers are nice and you can tell the counselors really care about you. It's not the worst school but it's also not the best school. No school is perfect because there are different people each year year and each student has a different experience.

I'm very disappointed with how the principal Seana Condit-Gordan handled a problem that my child had with another student at the school. Seana was not helpful at all, my child had to call me from his own cell phone because the principal didn't think it was necessary to call me to notify me about my child's situation. I had to call the cops myself to see how they could help me. I'm just disgusted by lack of caring for the students at this school by the principal, secretary and teachers.

As a sub I felt that the teachers really cared about their students. There were lesson plans and each teacher I subbed for made sure to let me know they would be available to deal with any issues as they were in training for the day on campus. I had 6 periods with different students (some were in more than one class with me) and it seems the same as most other schools. The good students don't need any attention and the others talked, walked around, were rude and disrespectful, and even gave me threatening stares. I guess it's the usual average teen mentality, but I did sub for students the same age at another school yesterday who were on the opposite end of the spectrum. I would love to know why there's such a huge difference in their attitudes. I won't be subbing any more at Bret Harte.
