My daughter was emotionally abused by one of the first grade teachers at this school. Instead of addressing the problem the principal has chosen to ignore it and me. Ive been told by other students that this teacher is known for being very mean. It's unfortunate that the students such as my child have to endure such treatment.

The principal is awful, nothing but issues with him for years. That isn't just from me personally but other parents as well. I've also talked to other parents when he was with Nevada City that had multiple issues with him. Makes me wonder why he left there.

I think this is a wonderful school and I especially love Mrs Anderson.. she is an amazing teacher and very capable and posotive. She has made an impact on my step grand child... and I am forever grateful for that .. thankyou..

I don't know what experience the last reviewer had but our new principal has been an exceptionally positive presence in the short time he has been at Union Hill. He was loved at his last district and has already proved himself to be one of the best changes to happen at this school in a long time. Some classes are larger but my child's has only 21 students. We know Union Hill cares about students and academics.

We agree witht he last sentiment, it used to be better for our kids, a big shift happened over 2012 and 2013. Now it is a charter and since anyone can come it is overcrowded - I mean 30 (yeah thirty) kids per class my 4th grader's class - waaaaay too many. This is a school, not a business folks!! And the great principal left. And of course the county in their "wisdom" took the worst principal they had and put them in charge now. Hmm, wonder why that person was available anyway, could they have not found either great talent in the Union Hill teaching staff or a new principal from outside of the county instead of getting a broken retread? Get ready to tolerate bullying and admin problems. We feel truly sorry for some of the great teachers that are there. Likely they (like us) will leave as problems erupt, and they will, the best people always have the best options. How many times do we have to learn these lessons in society 1. keep the class sizes small (less than 20 children) and 2. don't put your worst people in charge of any school. Ugh. We begin a new school search, it is tough because our kids have so many friends; at least we have a few friends looking to jump too.

Used to be better. The teachers are good but the special ed staff is awful. It was so much better when our older son went to the high school and left this miserable rule laden place. We are just another warm body. In 5 years, we have never felt connected. My son is fearful of change but I am getting close to making one. Hyped as a great school but it is just that, hype!

Union Hill is a good school with caring teachers and administrators. We came from out of state last year, and the staff was really great in helping our children adjust to a new school. Coming from an advanced charter school, we worried that our children may be bored, but the great programs and rigorous curriculum kept our children excited about education. My 5th grader said that this was his favorite school, and Ms. Allender was the best teacher he has ever had. That means a lot since I am a teacher myself. My hats off to Union Hill for all they do.

Union Hill School is a great k-8 school where the teachers have high expectations for academics. I am very happy with the the teachers and what my kids have been learning.
