I am a previous student who was pulled from this school during my 8th grade year. I had 4 F's, and a math teacher who was extremely short tempered and had an obvious dislike to me over others. (Harsher punishments, etc.)However, the final straw was when said teacher put me outside for a total of 53 minutes in the sun for a minor offense. (Said offense being "not being on task," when she only said it was basically free time, and "disrupting class," which was laughing to myself about a joke from two years ago that I happened to remember.) She has always disliked me, punishing me more than other students even if my peers were behaving worse than me. She also considers herself better than other teachers.

I am a student that used to be in Lyman Gilmore Middle School. I have gotten a Conversion disorder from so much stress and multiple concussions. I have had a rope tied to my neck in this school and dragged across rocks. I have never seen a school with such low adult supervision. Please don't send your kids here. They will thank you.

My experience at this school was the worst, My child has never been so afraid to go to school. Bullying is a non-stop problem at this school with daily visits from the sheriff's office for fights. They really need more safety measures and better supervision.

My daughter goes to Gilmore and has expressed that she feels the teachers don't care or pay attention. The Aviator program she is in is suppose to help her but is making things worse. I do not like the program myself and feel its not helping my child. I was suppose to have a walk through of the class and meet the teachers but they never scheduled. I didn't find out till she started the class what they did. I do not agree with the program and asked several times to have her moved out of it. I was told she had to stay until she graduated out of it. To make a kid stay in program that is causing problems is not right. The teachers and other staff wont listen and I have repeated myself several times to them. I'm frustrated at how things have been handled and I'm considering taking her out of that school.

Lyman Gilmore is an awesome school! It offers more elective choices than any other school in Nevada County (culinary arts, digital arts, performing (choir and band) arts, and visual arts). I have friends who's children went to Gilmore in years past and, according to them, the school is better now than it has ever been. Apparently there's new staff and new administration that has turned things around. One of the few schools in the area that offer honors classes in both math and English. Not to mention that the school consistently has the most competitive athletic program in the county as well. Nevada Union teachers have said that Gilmore students come in as extremely prepared. Happy to have my child at Gilmore.

This is a great school! It offers more programs than any other in the area, has a strong technology focus and diversity in its student population. Most importantly Lyman Gilmore has administrative and teaching staff that care about the students and their education! We're had a great experience with our two daughters. The school now has grade 5-8, which sort of makes me wonder if part of this rating is based on info/sentiment prior to the arrival of the current staff.

Our daughters went to Gilmore and all Grass Valley Schools and have an excellent education and experience. It really is the best school to prepare students for high school, college, career and life!
