Our school experience here was overall disappointing and frustrating. There are some wonderful teachers here who are kind and inspire learning! However there are several (in administration and special ed) who are cruel and unprofessional to the children in their care. I overheard one yell quite loudly at a boy that he was a "bad kid". Its a sad place if your kid needs some extra help.

My oldest had issues with the staff belittling him and they dismissed any concerns I had. I thought it was just an unlucky draw of teachers and regretfully allowed my 2nd child to go to this school. She had all different teachers than my first child and she was also belittled by the staff to the point of depression. I ended up pulling my 2nd child from this school towards the end of 5th grade and will not allow my youngest to go here. My kids had no issues with the student body.

The school sounds ok at first, but if your student requires any resource room services, and/or has an IEP, it's probably best to find a different school for these two grades, for the safety of your child. The school has no set process for handling bullying. We have been dealing with bullying at this school since the start of the year. My daughter has been told by her own resource room teacher that she is lying(without actually knowing if she's lying or not). We've had problems with the same friend groups bullying on the bus, which goes hand and hand with the school, but the school told us they don't handle the bus issues, even though it's all under the same district. It's not getting better, her grades continue to drop, and her teachers continue to not care. It's so sad seeing this, as we transferred here from a great school where she was doing so good. Avoid grand Haven schools. Google their very recent past, it's not pretty, and they would rather hide it than talk about it like we need to be doing.

I wish I had better options. I fear for the time I have lost in my child’s most educatable years.

I was a student for 2 years at this school, and I thought that the way that the staff interacted with us students was great.

This school is terrible. Non-existant principals and a staff that is scattered and lost at best. Unfortunately all 5th and 6th graders have to attend here now, so it's a no-win situation unless your child is older.

This school sucks. I transferred because 1. The staff is horrible 2. They wouldn't challenge me 3. This school only cares about the kids that are behind. Not ahead.

Others should know how unprofessional the staff was and uncooperative with parents/students. If you want your children to be bullied by the staff send your kids here. I was very unhappy with what my child and other children stated. Then hearing from high school students the same exact stories happened to them. I would suggest to talk to students about the school district because you will hear nothing but good things from the principle and staff. The student body was wonderful, but the teachers can change the mood in a minute. Hope someone else can learn from our experiences.
