I have had 2 children attend this school, (1 currently and 1 previously). Both kids excelled with the help of the wonderful staff. They have smaller class sizes, which in turn results in more 1 on 1 time with teachers and students! Both of my kids are extremely smart and GES offers an excellent G/T (Gifted/Talented) program to accommodate the needs of children who need to be challenged more than what basic classroom learning provides. Over all, we are more than pleased with GES, and my daughter will continue to attend until she goes to middle school. (My son just went to middle school this year after 3 years at Gilcrest.) I would rate this school 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Gilcrest Elementary is currently experiencing tremendous growth. In fact, it has recently been designated as a "Performance School" (9/2013) based on the most recent state assessment results. This is the highest designation Colorado schools can attain. Gilcrest Elementary has moved from Turnaround, to Priority Improvement, skipped past Improvement and onto Performance in the past few years. We are on the move to bigger and better things at Gilcrest Elementary because of the effective work of our staff, students, and parents. It is an exciting time to be a part of the community at Gilcrest Elementary.

This school reminds me of the old 1950's schools, where the teachers care about each individual student and their well being. It has been many years since any of my kids has been to such a successful and caring school. I know my son will be a super successful adult because of this school and its amazing staff.

This school always seems to be behind compared to other schools in the area. 2 years ago we were a turnaround school (lowest ranking by the state), and now we are just above that. The other two schools in the district are excelling and I don't know any teacher that has their kids at this school. That should say something! Nothing seems to change that much year to year and thus neither do the results.
