One of my children attended this school for a few years and it was a extremely well kept school! Teachers prioritized teaching students to get ahead and score well on standardized tests!

Outstanding experience at Niles - would highly recommend. Specifically:* INCREDIBLE parental support. Teachers routinely get more than requested numbers of volunteers for any given event. Fundraisers are consistently successful, raising much more than targets/needed amounts. * Supportive community. This school fosters a sense of community - various opportunities for families to meet, to interact, to get to know now another, etc. There is a sense of collaboration and support, to help our kiddos grow and thrive. Examples include game nights, coding camps, etc. (All free, all on campus, all well organized.) * Facilities. The school is a historically old and beautiful campus - gorgeous architecture. * Teachers. The vast majority of teachers are very engaged and communicative with parents, use technology in and out of the classroom, and are delivering quality content/lessons/guidance. * Counselors. The on-site counselor is EXCELLENT. Very adept at handling the normal challenges that all kiddos face, in any school environment. Thrilled to be part of this community, which will give our kids an excellent foundation.

Excellent Elementary school in Fremont Unified School District (FUSD). This school is a hidden gem - where there is a good racial equity - although being in a very skewed demographic area. The teachers and administrative and other supporting staff are great and friendly with the students. The Physical Education program of the school is awesome and is led by 2 dedicated PE teachers. Students are very happy attending this school and has a very strong alumni system. The kids are very friendly and I have not experienced any bullying happening in this school and the school does take a very tough stand against bullying. I highly recommend this school as the one school which balances academics, sports and fun.

Overall, I think Niles is a good school. They have the potential to be GREAT, however, if only they updated their policies and practices to catch up with the 21st century. More electronic communication (require that from teachers), less homework in lower grades, and more consideration for working parents' schedules would go a long way to making this school truly excellent.

We have had a very bad experience with this school. Only reason we have our son in the school is we cant afford to put him in private school and are stuck. If this review can help one child then my mission is complete here..

teachers are great, and recently the entire community helped a teacher when she was in need. It showed great care for each other.

Both my daughter and son attended Niles Elementary. My daughter started in the 2nd grade, when we moved back to Fremont, and my son attended K-6. Aside from being the local public school and being convenient to where I live, I would recommend Niles to parents who want their kids to be taught by teachers who care about their job and go the extra mile. And also have friends of many different ethnic backgrounds. My children are mixed-race and always fit in. I read the recent comments about Niles from some parents - maybe a single disgruntled parent? - and I never experienced any of the issues they mention. The office staff were engaged and friendly and the principal was fair and accessible. There are two main reasons I didn't rate Niles five stars. First, there are a lot of helicopter parents at the school - maybe this is common everywhere? - but I thought this was annoying. Second, for very bright children there isn't any real effort made to challenge them. There was no special curriculum. This may be a district or state issue - I don't know, but when a child is identified as "gifted" one would think that s/he would be slotted into accelerated programs. Instead, my children both ended up being tutors for kids who were slower. Good experience (I guess) for them and it doesn't appear to have affected them adversely (one goes to Cal, the other is looking at MIT). Anyway, long story short, Niles is a great community and the elementary school is a great way to get integrated. There are many parents who care and parental involvement in the school and classroom is high.

teachers are condescending towards students and parents. Don't take responsibility and forget that they are teaching children and not adults. Homework assignments are unrelated to the common core curriculum.

A good school to be in if you are only interested in grades. I have two daughters in this school, and they did very well. However, I always felt something was amiss. They didn't appear to be extremely happy, but they didn't complain. Eventually, I had the bitter taste of unpleasant experiences as well. The principle is passive, and had displayed lack of professionalism in issues that was brought up. Encountered favoritism, and condescending comments in school projects. The sincerity, warmth, and graciousness is definitely lacking within the school environment. My youngest daughter was fortunate to have left this school for another in Fremont. She beams with happiness now! And her grades is as good if not the same as before. As for me, I walked into the new school, and I feel a sense of belonging finally. Having said all that, I hope that Niles will persevere to improve in the humanity aspect, and not always striving to be academically excellent only. We want our children to be well-rounded, don't we?

Awesome school. Very nice teachers. Mrs. Gould is great for Kindergarten and the teacher who worked with her is also very helpful. Kids and environment is great here. They even have movie show timings for kids, various events... two easily accessible play structures keeps our toddles busy while we wait for kindergartner to come out.

My daughter started Kindergarten here this past Fall and we couldn't be happier. Her teacher has been tremendous: super-organized, attentive and caring. In speaking with parents with older kids in the school, it seems the staff as a whole is well-regarded (I'll be sure to update my review as time goes by). My daughter's class is also ethnically diverse, and better yet, many of the parents are involved and have been quick to volunteer for classroom activities. Overall, this school appears to be an excellent reflection of the community of Niles and the greater Bay Area.

My children started attending this school three year back and they were welcomed with open arms. All the teachers are very dedicated and we were pleasantly surprised on how well they did academically and the teachers are very friendly and communicate with us. The PTA is very active and there are a lot of active parents who make sure that things run smoothly. They have different classes in their after school program for all graders. Younger students have the privilege of many traditions that make being part of the Niles family a plus. I have nothing but good things to say about this school. My kids loves to go to Niles school. One thing I like to improve is to encourage the kids and send them for math olympaids every year and show more interest on science fair!
