Our son has had an absolutely amazing first three months at the Brighton School! He joined in the third grade, and we were initially a little concerned that he'd have a hard time being accepted because most of the kids had been in the school for years. However, everyone was SO welcoming, from the teachers to the administrative team, to the students. He's had a great year so far, and we can't wait for him to come home every day and tell us about all the great things he's done!

When visiting the school please, look beyond the facilities. The school is truly unique, both in its academics and the social environment. Academically, the program is challenging and diverse, but all students receive positive reinforcement and thrive. As a result, nearly all kids work one or more grade levels ahead in most subjects by the time they graduate. The science program is unmatched, a true gem. French is taught by a native speaker, English and Math can be as challenging as you child needs. Several kids did 6th grade pre-algebra in 4th grade. All the academic extras are also there: GeoBee, math Olympiads, field trips, etc. Our child went to a high-end private school after Brighton, and he was better prepared than most of his peers who went to elite (and super-expensive) schools in the greater Boston area. Socially, there is REALLY no bullying at this school. Kids socialize across ages and gender, and many become friends. The sense of community is also rewarding for parents, and the overall flexibility is fantastic. While our opinion can be subjective, what we see is that most kids stay in school for years (pre-K thru 5th grade is common), and most of the attrition happens for reasons that have nothing to do with the school (parents moving out of state for a job, etc.). Once you start at the school, it's hard to leave. Fantastic all around!

The teacher to student ratio is two to three times lower than public schools today. The teachers are true subject matter experts. Their ability combined with the low number of students enables them to be able to engage and inspire my child on a daily basis. The technology education at this school is extraordinary. I also appreciate specific subject area teachers for science, French, art, and music.

My children transferred to The Brighton School from a public school due to very large class sizes. Immediately we noticed that the school instilled a genuine kindness and respect in the children for one another. The children are allowed to learn at their own rate, and the constant pressure they felt from the public school was replaced by encouragement from the teachers. The academics are geared to the individual student and concepts are explained in depth by the teachers (rather than just filling out worksheets). The small size makes learning easy and fun. The size does, however, make socialization somewhat limited because there are so few children. They do learn to play/learn with many ages. I loved our experience in this warm and unique school, and I know my children grew a great deal in both intellectually and in their confidence.

The Brighton School is truly an amazing learning atmosphere for children. The class sizes are small, all the teachers know all the students, and personal responsibility and respect are instilled even in the youngest children. The result is very happy and well-rounded students that enjoy learning and positively interact with all age groups of all backgrounds. It is also exceptional that the teachers are also the school administrators. The discord that can exist with teachers vs. school board simply does not exist. My daughter has truly thrived at this school!
