Worst school ever. Drop off is horrible, IEP programs are done at a minimum, small portions not healthy school food, no Christmas programs or plays. There is no effort at this school!!!!!!! Moving districts just to get out of it!!

My son joined here in 3rd grade after studying in an IB school in another country.We totally love it here. It was a seamless transition for him. He is doing excellent in his subjects and enjoys all the specials done at BR. The teachers and the staff is very involved with each child. He has taken his first cmas last week and my son is confident he will get high grades. Overall I'm extremely happy with my choice of Blackrock School.

Meh. Only attend because it's our neighborhood school & nothing is glaringly terrible. Main point of this review is to call out the school's false claim on home page, as seen today, 8/10/2022: "World Language Academy. Our school is a place where everyone is learning and practicing a second language, preparing them for the global community." This is a lie. My first child graduated after attending preschool through 5th grade and remembers one Chinese word. My second child knows several colors (only) after years of Spanish classes. This is indicative of the teaching and not the students. According to my child, the current Spanish teacher gives them Xeroxed sheets to fill out and it's not fun. As a parent, have met her in person and she has very low energy. She has never had a picture on the school web site which is wrong also. I can understand why my child is less than enthusiastic about Spanish. I don't think schools should be able to lie about the quality of programming or claim to be something they're not. Go elsewhere if you're looking for a strong language program.

Our time at Black Rock has been time we will cherish forever. The teachers, staff, principal, Assistant principal, school nurse, etc. are all amazing! Our son has on-going, daily medical needs, has needed help with reading, and everyone has been amazing. The school culture is phenomenal, and the difference between our kindergarten year and 1st grade have been night and day. So grateful for each person at Black Rock that has touched our son's life!

Two of my children attend Black Rock and I couldn't be happier with the staff, extracurricular activities that are available and the overall positive atmosphere.

Bullying is a big issue at this school and I cant stress enough to say that it would be any parents best interest to look at other schools in the area. I wish I did before sending my child here. We will be moving to another school next year.

My child attends Black Rock and we couldn't be more thrilled with this school. It is in the top 90% of schools in the state and the test scores continue to sky rocket every year. The teachers are extremely invested in the well being of every child, and they take the time to teach each child according to their learning style. They are very welcoming to parents, and the principal is extremely approachable.

This school is great if you live in the community and like the convience of a school in your neighborhood. The education it provide is less than average. The principal is not friendly and rarely gets to know the parents or students. The school does not challenge the kids that need to be challenge or work with the kids that struggle. If your child falls in the middle, then this school will work for you.

We'll be leaving Black Rock at the end of the school year. Many of the teachers are excellent but there was a lot of turnover this year and many new teachers are struggling. One of the most laughable things about the school is the amount of homework they pile on yet the teacher websites are all out of date. Heaven forbid you not know what homework is due as teachers only update their pages infrequently. Classes are overcrowded and paras are almost always Black Rock parents.

The school is very over crowded, there were 31 in my sons class which didn't give him the attention he needed to challenge him. He was tested for gifted in math and reading but due to the teacher having to manage classroom size she admittedly couldn't spend one on one with him. If they get the size under control it will be a lot better.
