My grandson is considered autistic or developmentally delayed regarding his comprehension. With that being said, last year he was placed in a classroom with children who either had a physical or mental disability or both. He was able to point out the wrong done to his peers in the classroom by the teacher, another peer or another adult. The admin staffs did not like that, they were tired of some of the tattling (this is an assumption based on how the treatment for my grandson became a bigger issue this school year). When something was happening to him, he was told to be the bigger person but was acknowledged for doing so, that got old because all he would tell us is what occurred and what he did (nothing), even when he was spat at or had a student try to put boogers on him. He is currently in general education but under the special education department, there is a student who has been putting boogers on his chair and has also been being bullied by a group of students in the choir class. My grandson was moved from the class even after being called the ’N’ word and a black monkey. He broke down crying asking why he was being punished. My grandson has distinctive character traits he has yet to deviate from, supposedly the school understands them; I don't think so. The school officials say the same scripted thing to us all the time, they hold him hostage to earlier dates like he hasn't changed or matured or is always lying but the other students are precious innocent beings who he is bullying. The staffs won’t help you get to the bottom of anything and when you try to assist them in dealing with the situation they always say “he didn’t explain the situation to me like he did to you.” Then they look at him and say, “why didn’t you tell me that?” As I mentioned numerous times, you all don’t make him feel comfortable enough in your presence, please call me and I will show up or talk with him over the phone if possible. No call or email until, a week later or days later. There’s so much more I can say. Calling the district hasn’t helped because they refer us right back to the school. It’s a no win situation so we are looking into a program and also considering home schooling at this time. It will be a mental break for the whole family. This has been one of the most stressful encounters I have ever experienced and I am a retired Parole Agent and ex military. The latest thing I can't share right now happened yesterday. What's next?

This school is horrible for students with disability. My daughter was treated like second class citizen by the administrators who were quick to suspend her without providing her with appropriate behavioral intervention. Her one-on-one was disconnected and mean, and the school did not provide my daughter with a least restrictive education as stated by IDEA. They did not respect my daughter's dignity and rights, and instead tried to send her home whenever issues arise. My daughter exhibited worsened behavior when she spent 2 years here and we're hoping we can fix the harm. If your child has special needs, the teacher and administrators here are not recommended.

Ramirez Intermediate is an outstanding school. The school was recently recognized by the Department of Education as a California Gold Ribbon School for its outstanding academic and technology programs. Music, band, robotics, technology, Chinese, Spanish, art, sports, video production, AVID, Yearbook, ASB/Leadership, two electives, top notch academics, fantastic teachers and staff. Ramirez has it all. It is a great place to go to school and learn.

Good School. Nice teachers. Great Equipment to ebhance student productivity. Howerver, more promising students needs more challenge.

I've attended Ramirez since the start of the school year as a seventh grader, while my elder brother was enrolled last year for 8th. The teachers overall are absolutely amazing at communicating the subject quite well & providing the needed attention but there are definitely a few that aren't as fabulous. Of all the administrators I see the councillor the most & the principal about biweekly, sometimes even less, nearly on the grounds. The security & other faculty are marvelous, too. Pre-AP classes are not that challenging however just seem to be more homework, especially English which is plain atrocious in teaching. The students are split into 3 groups pretty much; the snotty popular kids who are rude & judgmental, the normal kids who start useless drama or are pulled into the drama, & the lucky ones who just do their own thing. The eighth graders are mean & brutal if you get in their way or aren't in cahoots with them, shoving & jeering in the hallways. I think we need a little longer passing period as I have two classes on complete opposite corners of the school which makes it hard to get there in the allotted time. Overall it's pretty good, but definitely has room to improve.
