Samuel Staples is not a place where you want to send your child. The behavioral problems that plague all the classrooms are consistently rising year after year (my eldest started in 2016 and I still have two children still attending).Last year both my children had classmates that physically attacked other students multiple times throughout the year. Excuses were made and the students continued to return to the classroom with minimal repercussions. In addition to the physical aggressions, foul language, sexually suggestive language and constant verbal disruption occurred in my older child’s classroom to the point they would come home crying about not being able to learn. When these concerns were brought to the school’s attention it was passed off as if it were no big deal. In addition, there has been a huge turnover of teachers over the last few years. Our school lost some really wonderful educators because of the out of control classroom behaviors they encountered daily with little to no support. It’s a sad situation for both teachers and students.

The ranking of this school and the test proficiency rates is getting poorer year by year. The diversity is increasing, which is good. However, the bullying is getting worse.

Lack of diversity and inclusion. Test scores should be better for a DGRA school. Not competitive with other schools in the county.

Our child did not receive an inclusive experience by her peers or her teacher. Our child is of a different religion than what is the norm for this town.

We moved to the area and my child started SSES in third grade. Everyone is very welcoming. Excellent experience.

Our child was new to this school and was horribly bullied by peers for not having a common religion. The teacher was not supportive or helpful in alleviating the bullying.

The school is pretty average. Our family did not find the school community to be as welcoming and inclusive as we had hoped as we were new to the area. I think we would have fared better in a neighboring community.

We moved to Easton for the schools. We couldn’t have made a better choice! And the community is amazing. So warm and welcoming. So many events for the littles.

The administration does not handle bullying effectively or follow up on anonymous reporting. The school community needs to put more effort into welcoming newcomers.

An average school, not that impressive considering the schools are the only reason people move here.

This school really needs to work on test scores and provide diversity training for the teachers now that the demographics are changing very rapidly. The teachers also need some sensitivity training in social emotional development. The hires have been less than sensitive to students recovering from the stress of the pandemic and are having difficulty taking their personal stress out on students. Not good for young and developing minds. Now that we are recovering from online school and the acute phase of the pandemic, I would expect the test scores to get better.

It is good to see the school becoming more diverse.

The school needs to try harder to implement more social emotional curriculum. Also, there should be a stronger focus on anti-bullying. The school is pretty weak in dealing with bullying issues. They have an anonymous reporting system by put the administration often fails to follow up on these reports.

My child did not experience inclusiveness in her second grade classroom.

Scores on state tests are dropping hard. This school needs to get it together. We pay too high taxes for a so so education. There is nothing more to this town than it’s schools. They need to hire better teachers.

Our family has been in Easton for a few years now. The realtor that we used highly recommended Easton because of the school district. Our experience has not been that great. We found the teaching and administration mediocre at best. I don’t feel that my kids have been challenged enough and teacher responsiveness has been awful. We have two kids at Samuel Staples and one at Helen Keller. Not sure if it is because of pandemic fallout but we are pretty disappointed.

This school does not deal with bullying effectively. Their mantra all over the school says “be kind”. The kids need to be reminded often because the climate is not kind. Kimberly Fox Santora does is ineffective at creating an inclusive environment to those with a diverse background. They claim to have a task force to deal with these issues but the principal turns a blind eye when issues arise. Teachers can also be discriminatory of students that are different. This is a town that is not prudent in respecting diversity. If you are moving to the town for the schools, don’t. The surrounding towns are performing much better. Test scores prove it. I am sure they also have more competent leadership at the helm.

Academics are fine but administration doesn’t deal with bullying effectively. My child had a second grade teacher that was unkind and did not show inclusiveness.

SSES is a wonderful school. My children have had great teachers and the administration have been very helpful.I will never forget how welcoming the Principal was when my children came to this school, along with the students and teachers. It has been a great experience! We moved here to Easton from New York 5 years ago.

SSES is a wonderful community. All teachers have been amazing with my children. The safety of having a police officer on site comforts me a great deal as well. Families really pitch in to help make the students experience all it can be. There could be improvements with the specials like Art and gym. Would love to see more creativity and use with all the gorgeous land they have at the school. Administration responds quickly in my experience except for the superintendent, although he is fairly new. I would love to see the administration smiling and being light hearted more often however, they do lead effectively for the most part. Some communications could be sent out earlier but overall they do a solid job of keeping parents informed. It’s a wonderful community and I think the staff, students and parents really work together to make it an excellent experience for everyone. Happy we chose Easton!
