My both kids went there back on 2013-2014 ,teachers was nightmare principal was even worse!! My son was getting hit by the teacher so many time and i didn’t know one of the aides told me!! She was grabbing him by the ear and swing him around!!! I went to the principal and BOE and was worthless!! We had to move before i was going to lose my mind and do the unthinkable!!! We moved to Trumbull that was the best decision ever,my kids were happy to go to school and been here since!!

I went to this school back in 2007-2008 and the amount of bullying I had gone through was a NIGHTMARE! I remember being followed off the school bus by a group of girls , another girl got jumped by a few girls on the school bus and the faculty did absolutely nothing. I even remember I got bullied til the last day of school

I attended this school from 1969-1971 (6th-8th grade). The bullying that I experienced for all three years on a daily basis was a nightmare. I can still remember some of the horrible things said and done to me. Teachers did not take any disciplinary action even though they knew what was going on other than telling the bullies to stop. Trying to learn for me was very difficult because of this. I did not look forward to what would be said and done to me each day I went to this school. It’s hard to believe that almost 52 years later I can still remember those days like it was yesterday. It’s sad that after all of these years this school still has not addressed bullying issues to the point where it would have been stopped.

I went to this school and I can say I absolutely love it. The teachers are amazing and everyone is very welcoming and cares about the students I 100% recommend this school!!!

I would not put my child back in this school it’s the worst school ever the teachers are horrible. I wouldn’t even put a dog in this school.My child’s first year went great but the second year everything went down hill.They don’t care about what’s going on and they don’t take action in any important situations such as bullying ,violence etc. So I don’t recommend this school to anyone!

John Winthrop School is the best school to go to in Bridgeport if you want your child to succeed. They have an effective approach to students and the teachers are very nice. They removed all the bad and ineffective teachers and are more organized. They have the only Talented and gifted teacher in the district. Last year, there was a problem but they fixed it this year. The teachers actually want you to succeed! And their ratings are the highest in the city( Including magnet schools)! So you should try this school!

I'ts funny the sight ask for honesty in your review on the schools. you & your love one went or going to.in my family what we experience I can only say NO STAR IS BETTER THAN PUTTING A STAR TO THIS WEB SIGHT.BUT YOU HAVE TO BECAUSE YOU WONT GET TO TELL YOUR HONEST REPORT OR THOUGHTS OF THIS SCHOOL.That's the only thing i can say & from what I see of these parents that review this school its been a while ago.maybe it was a grate journey at that time but for my family it wasn't & i'm sorry I have to leave it like this because we are still in a dilemma with them.just PLEASE DO MORE RESEARCH ON THIS SCHOOL.{a surprise visit with one parent in office & another at your LOVE ONE CLASS}.sorry again for not saying much why I feel this way but {again} no star from my family.{no names}.{observing your love one's goes along way}.....THANKS, FOR WHO TAKES THIS AS A HONEST TRUTH.....

Their academic achievement and expectations are higher than other public schools in the city. The parents are involved, the principal is a good leader and the teacher quality is great. The location is the best in the city. It offers morning and afternoon programs which is really convenient and helpful. The overall experience I've had at Winthrop School is wonderful.

All three of my kids went to this school, and they really enjoyed it. The staff at this school is great. The principal is very involved in every event at the school, and from my experience so are the parents.
