This school is horrible. The staff are nice, sure, but the curriculum is one of the greatest acts of stupidity I have ever seen. Your only chance of surviving this school is getting a perfect set of teachers per grade. The one good thing I would say about "River Jail" is the teachers that are teaching there, they are some of the best teachers that most schools in the state could offer, and that is the saving grace for lucky students. The bullying and toxicity here is insane and students can not do anything about it, and the school work and subject materiel are honestly stupid, annoying and overall impossible, though homework is minimal to nonexistent. It leads a horrible mental incentive for students there, in which a lot of them are dealing with suicidal thoughts and depression and there is nothing to do about it. The school is most asian students, and many staff and Fulton county think it is a good idea to share everything about their student to their parents, when they do not understand what Gen-Z really is and how bad the school is? This leads to horrible stress at home for students, and alongside with FCS rules being some of the dumbest in the entire nation(I have compared this to countless other schools, and let me tell you, this is one of the worst), you can't expect much. There are horrible bullying instances to everyone(as I have said before) and myself, being bullied by an uncountable amount of kids and not being able to do anything, some of them taking it way to far. The hallways are infinitely crammed, include the buses, where there are so much injuries due to the inhumane trafficking of students on there, yet none are recorded. There are kids all over the school, including myself with over 20-30 areas where things out of our control could easily harm us, not to mention that: even though the staff are great, they do not understand what Gen-Z really is and many people get in trouble due to this. Based on this information, I think you can infer what will happen to your child in this school with other areas I have not mentioned. Parents, if you are reading this, please take it easy on your child, as this school will be one of the worst obstacles in their lives, and nothing will help. This goes for majority of students which I have already talked to and expressed their opinion and concern.

This school is a terrible school. Cockroaches everywhere. Students having a 5 year old like tantrum and the teachers yelling. Teachers giving blueslips to everyone without any reasons.

Our experience at RTMS for my two children has been fantastic. My son finished his MS years there and although most of it was virtual, he loved every teacher and his overall experience. My daughter is now starting 7th grade and we have to say that her first MS year was much better than we expected. Her teachers were amazing, supportive, and kind. Administration team and the way the school is run is the most impressive part of River Trail. Transferring my children to RTMS has been the best decision!

RTMS is a remarkable school. As a person who grew up in both public and top notch private institutions, I can definitely say that RTMS does an incredible amount for their and respective families. From foreign language programs to a host of athletic activities to an incredibly supportive group of teachers, I cannot ask for more. They recognize top students, moral character and have excellent communication. Great job RTMS!!

This school is in need of diversity from Leadership to Educators. They need to have a strong zero tolerance for bullying and they do not. In a time where students have taken their life for being mistreated/bullied all schools should consider having a plan of action to remove such behaviors. Educators in this school can be impatient and speak disrespectfully to students in front their peers and are often time confrontational with students who cause no issues. They need to have respect from Leaders and Teachers to ALL students. There needs to be a priotiy place on the sense of urgency when bullying, harassing or issues students need discipline occur. While all Teachers need to have the ability to educate this school appears to employ and seek those that are not of a minority background or race. A STRONG change needs to be inserted and investigated into these matters for River Trail Middle School because some of their actions are news worthy.

This school is absolutely amazing. The structure is the best, the teachers are fantastic, and the work level and load are perfect. Children who struggle, are not emotional, or mentally prepared for a school with a high academic level as River Trail. Students are cared for, and treated with respect.

My son attended for 3 years and he made a lot of good friends. He enjoyed his year round band class for 3 years. School staffs are very friendly and nice.

Rtms is the most stressful and most boring place ever. The rules are so strict that it's not ok. Creativity seems so restricted, too. Everyday is the same as yesterday. Alot of hw, robot-like teachers (very few amount of good teachers) , and the goal to just get good test and quiz grades. That's it. The school is really grey even though it looks great on the outside. If you want THE middle school experience with a lot of this and that, then rtms is gonna let you down really badly. Middle school is only a once-in-a-lifetime chance so it should be enjoyed and full of awesome memories. Oh, and also for the academic side, if you really wanna learn the important stuff more thoroughly, like math, then get a tutor. It's better.

River trail is a very good school. Although to succeed at this school, you absolutely cannot lack motivation. I don't know why people are saying there is no creativity at this school; we have plenty (too many almost) of projects and each one can be another opportunity to be creative. I will say though, it depends entirely on who your teachers are. I had a teacher who quoted the textbook every time we asked a question and a teacher who just told us stories unrelated. The kids here, however, are extremely intelligent. I used to be head and shoulders above the rest of my classes at my old school. I came here and there are 50 other kids who perform just as well as I do, many far above me.

River Trail is a very top notch school. Some people that review here are just being misguided and as a parent the teachers and staff are very helpful and are very fun. If you are looking for a fun, exciting, and top notch school you should come to River Trail. The negative comments are biased based on their personal experience. However, having 4 kids attend at different years all of them have enjoyed River Trail and did not have the same teachers as their siblings.

I was a previous student here but now reside at Georgia Tech. This was the worse middle school I have ever seen. The rules the staff enforce are not only troublesome but pointless. The administrators will also try to write you up for petty things and the strict rules only make the students rebel more. The courses are not very challenging and the teachers were very bad at teaching. Along with the strict rules, all this made me put no effort into my grades and I actually made straight C's in middle school. The diversity and academic achievements that this school owns is solely due to parents who want to bring their students to the successful high school that most students will go to after River Trail- Northview. I loved Northview a lot and I strove to put my fullest potential here and you can see why almost every parent wants to bring their child their. If you want your child to attend Northview but is only in middle school, then I suggest you put him in River Trail. If not, then there is no reason to be at River Trail (River Jail - a phrase a lot of graduates from River Trail refer too).

I am a student and this school is unsatisfactory because I found that many teachers adhere extremely strictly to the state standards. It feels like the definition of teaching to the test. I have teachers that have no idea how to control a classroom and do not respond to the rampant racism and name calling within the student body. There is a lack of creativity in this school. Grades are the only thing some teachers care about. I have a teacher that makes the students who fail (very commonly) retake the test or quiz using notes. The teacher does not teach and only makes students fill out dull fill-in-the-blank note sheets, which are word for word copy and pastes of PowerPoints. The tests are derived straight from study guides. I overhear students complaining about the teachers often. It is routine. There are good, caring teachers, but they are so few and far between. If this school focused on something more than high test scores, and taught in an interesting, captivating fashion, that would be more satisfactory.

My school is a great school. We have clubs, too. Though, if you are in TAG classes. You only get more projects and harder tests. On top of that we get to practice critical thinking skills. Which is the main thing about TAG. I do wish we had BYOT. Bring your own technology because we need that program. It we help the school greatly.

This is a great middle school. They have many clubs and are very supportive to help the children achieve their best academically and emotionally. Children know this school for their curly fries.

Overall the school is great. We were in the school system for 5 years and applied for a hardship for a year. If you are not internally connected don't expect any compassion. Our hardship was not approved even when the household income was cut in half. I want to thank Dawn Melin and Myra Cornelius for all the consideration and understanding that was offered during the process (Sarcasm). I also would like to thank Myra for disclosing a private issue with another parent. Thank you as well Sara from the BOE for your help (Insert sarcasm again). May the same be returned to you guys. Thanks so much.

RTMS is a great school. Teachers are supportive and encourage the kids to do their best. My daughter is really thriving at RTMS. They have a ton of clubs and the teachers devote themselves not only to academics but also to the clubs. Last year the science olympiad sponsors went above and beyond. It was their first year - and the kids did an awesome job. The teachers are responsive and I always get a quick reply. The dedication of the students and the staff shows in every aspect of this school.

RTMS is a great school. The Academic team won state championship in 2013, and the Math Count team is No.1 in the state of Georgia. The band program is first rate, and many band students made the state band list. The principal is responsive. I once left a voice message for her, and she called back right after she was back in office. The teachers are generally good, and communications from school is prompt and adequate.

This school is most exceedingly great. The great amount of projects are just making the students strive and can therefore increase the student's creativeness and critical thinking, which is crucial to both a child's learning and growing progress. I can't stress how much this school has improved my child's "thinking out of the box" way and how it led her and her friends to great ivy league colleges. This school not only has extremely well-educated teachers who are very easily contacted and communicated with, but also a great educational system to allow students to make the best for themselves. Also the principal is always going around the halls and checking if the students are o.k. At lunch time, the principal is always standing there and watching the kids eat and making sure there are no problems and my daughter told me this. Other parents are saying "all they care about is money", "they are just memorizing, not learning," well if this is true, then why are the students who come out from this school succeeding in high-school and why does this school have one of the best test scores? It's because this is the school where teachers care about students and is where they can learn well.
