Duluth High School is a great school, particularly for students who are new to the United States. The school's commitment to supporting ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students is outstanding. They provide a plethora of resources tailored specifically to help these students integrate and thrive academically. One of the most commendable aspects of Duluth High is its dedicated teaching staff. The teachers go above and beyond to ensure that ESOL students receive the assistance they need to succeed. They are patient, understanding, and always willing to offer extra help or clarification. The school environment is welcoming and inclusive, making it easier for new students to adapt and feel comfortable. There's a strong sense of community, with various programs and activities that promote cultural exchange and understanding among students from diverse backgrounds. Overall, I highly recommend Duluth High School to any student, especially those who are new to the country.

Great school in the heart of the city of Duluth. This is one of the better schools in Gwinnett county. If you are a resident of Duluth then it’s well known that safety isn’t an issue. Proud of what the school has become and their continued improvements.

This school is in the heart of the community taking advantage of the village raising a child. Residents around are proud of DHS. The middle and elementary schools are STEAM so kids get a great foundation and DHS gives them opportunity to use their skills with many arts and science courses. Teachers are very approachable and willing to help each kid in their own unique need. The principal responds to issues very quickly. I was surprised to get an appropriate response within 2 hours and he continued to converse via email the whole day. By the afternoon I had an appointment with the VP and counselor for the next day. In the past we had an issue with a teacher. As parents you have to be your kids biggest advocate. DHS performed the impossible for the good of my kid and at the risk of a teacher. I will admit counseling was more concerned about getting kids into AP classes than where the student showed interest but it's your job as a parent to know what your kid can handle, put your foot down and guide administration to place your child where they will succeed. You are the parent and they have too many kids to manage. As for peers, every school will have bad apples, they are schooling teens with unstable emotional development after all.

Good school in my opinion :D, I'd like to recommend this school if your child is in Coleman MS since it's pretty close to Coleman too!

Students are bullied and admins say their are to busy with the 2k plus other students they can't monitor appropriately. Can't ever reach the principal. My kids are bullied daily and the school is taking the side of the bully. We will be contacting the media soon!!! RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THIS SCHOOL!!!!!!!

Duluth high is an exceptional school that has some of best teacher’s available. They truly care about the students and go beyond to help them out. I was a former student back in 2008 and it was great then and even better now with the additions they have made. This school takes education serious and does not tolerate any bullying. Also, rest assured that they are top rated in safety. I’ve grown up in Duluth for 10 + years and it’s one of the best places to live in GA.

Bad experience .It’s a test in obedience. Listen to the teacher, remember what he/she says, then copy it down a few weeks later. High school often doesn’t allow for the time of exploration that is vital to teen development.

I noticed students here are very unhappy some teachers here are great and care about students education and some of them could care less. The work they give them is easy and basically anyone could teach the class.

We were so disappointed in the overall quality of AP instruction and the road blocks that were thrown up because we transferred in that we opted for full time dual enrollment after one year here. Kudos to district for offering this option.

Excellent because they put education first and sports second.

There are a lot of fights and the way they discipline the students is extremely uncalled for.

This school is excellent, and the school was a great help for my disabilities. I appreciate the teachers, fellow peers and the counseling department for being such nice and caring people.

I have a hard time digesting fees for sports/activities then lackluster coaching in some areas and No AC in the gym!!!. Parents pay hundreds... and hundreds of dollars on top of in excess of $3k in taxes to be in this district. We should be competitive and up to date in all areas. Everyone who Pays ... Plays isn't the best Winning strategy. Additionally, we need MORE supervision at Football Games. The riff raff and fighting is appalling. This is Duluth... NOT the "hood".

I think that the review posted by the student on June 7, 2013, is very aptly put. Not only that, the fact that this student is able to communicate more effectively than many adults on this website whose children go to other schools speaks volumes. Our son has gone to Duluth for two years; he's beginning his junior year. DHS has a culture where students are encouraged to get outside of their comfort zone in order to reach a little higher academically. Not only that, but many of the students here evidently come from homes where they're encouraged to be good students; to show respect for the school and the staff (and each other, to a large extent.) We have been very happy here.

I am a graduate of DHS in the class of '12 and have attended the school for 4 years. I've always felt that DHS allows you to be whatever you want to be. If you want to achieve excellence, there will be many teachers to support you. However, if you choose to fail, there will be no one to try to 'help you out' if you simply don't want to try. Graduated students who are accepted into Emory, UPenn, and Berkeley have all taken advantages of all the resources available. Of course, there will always be the druggies and gansters (in every school). I've always felt that DHS is "down to earth" and reflects a very accurate view of the world of education. There is a great diversity in academics, sports, and social statuses. There is not much pressure to conform(like preppy private schools) since students there are so unique from each other, and thus, students display their true personality. If a parent wants his/her child to enroll in a good school, but not a preppy school with snooty kids, I would highly recommend DHS.
