We are so grateful to the teachers at Swigert, they are absolutely passionate and the children learn so much. Our communication with our teacher has been excellent, and we feel they play a big part in inspiring the kids to learn and like school. The teachers also seem very happy as they can teach the curriculum as they wish. This is a very well-funded school due to its fundraising which creates resources that the children benefit from. There are some fun family events during the year as well. 4/5 stars as I think it could be more of a diverse community and have seen unwelcoming high-school like behaviors from parents in the community that administrators turn a blind eye to, which can be uncomfortable. I hope in the future if the admins observe these behaviors they call them out so people can feel emotionally safe.

I came to this school from a school that had been so hateful towards me and I felt such a difference. I love this school so much. The Principal Shelly Dennis is one of the kindest people I have ever met. I have some special needs and all the teachers were so kind to me and helpful about that. I never ever felt like I was being bullied. They teach their students to always be kind through the IB program.

My children have attended Swigert since it opened. It's an incredible school. It offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, which is an inquiry-based approach to education. There are six interdisciplinary IB themes taught each year (3 science, 3 social studies) that build from year to year. Swigert has other exceptional programs, like weekly Spanish and technology classes and Explorations (electives taught by parents/teachers). Children love getting to pursue interests not typically offered in schools. Teachers are highly qualified and well supported. There s a wonderful GT/HGT specialist and several talented teacher coaches. The administration is passionate and hard-working. Parents are very active--volunteering, starting a community garden with a curriculum for each grade, organizing musicals, teaching Explorations classes, raising funds, etc. When the school opened, it strived to do what was best for children--to teach the whole child through inquiry in an engaging/challenging environment. Fortunately, it also turns out that students are high-performing, as Swigert is the #1 elementary school in DPS (according to SPF scores).

Swigert International School offers an IB program, Singapore Math, and has an amazing family community that financially supports programs such as Spanish language instruction and paraprofessional aides. Art, music, and PE are a part of every week. It is a newer school and the information here isn't up to date, but check out their website and the Swigert PTA website as well for more information.
