~~Note: This review is for RMP Berkeley (2019-present; not Cesar Chavez, which was a different school run by DPS, not the RMP charter, prior to 2019). ~~~We started at RMP 5 years ago when my oldest was in pre-k; this year my kids are in 3rd, 1st and pre-k 3.This is a diverse community that is committed to making it a safe and welcoming place for all families and students. My kids are challenged and supported academically, and I love the small, tight-knit positive culture of the school. The administration continuously seeks and responds to parent feedback and is always improving what the school has to offer.

We love RMP Berkeley. We have a 4th grader, 1st grader, and ECE kiddo, and we’re looking forward to being part of this community for many years. My kids come home excited to share about their day - what they’re learning, what they’re looking forward to in the coming weeks, what they’re working on, etc. They also come home with regular assessments, and communication from their teachers is great - so I know what they’re being taught, what they’re learning, and how they’re progressing. My kids also LOVE their specials classes, and it’s obvious all of the teachers at the school care about their craft and their students.I also appreciate how much the admin and teachers welcome parent involvement, and are responsive to parent feedback. It’s also really neat that the entire community (families, teachers, and staff) is diverse. The school families are about half neighborhood, half commenting families, so my children get to learn with and from people of diverse backgrounds. The RMP motto is Rigor with Love, and I see that in action daily - the students are pushed to excel academically in an environment that is supportive of them and their families.

We absolutely LOVE this school. The administration are focused on the whole child, and lead with kindness and structure. The teachers are dedicated to their craft, and truly deliver a customized teaching approach for each child. There are fun community events, and an amazing community of families. PLUS, the uniforms are the icing on the cake, as they make mornings easier and allow the children to focus on learning and not on societal economic differences. The staff and students are diverse, and welcoming. I could go on and on. Don’t hesitate to join our families of amazing Berkeley Bees!

Our eldest has gone to this school since Kinder because some of our other neighbors/friends' kids also went. Now, he's in first grade and has really been happy with the staff and new friends that he's made. The staff and teachers have all been open to suggestions, criticism and show a willingness to continue to serve the diverse population the DPS brings. First grade has been more challenging for our son in terms of being bored and being ahead of his grade, we had a chat with his teacher and they've made the proper accommodations and/or explain why certain areas it's not necessarily beneficial to move him out/up.We love our RMP-Berkeley community.

The reviews listed below are all for Cesar Chavez Academy, which has been replaced by RMP. THEY DO NOT PERTAIN TO THE SAME SCHOOL AND SHOULD BE DISASSOCIATED.That being said, the teachers at RMP are great. The diversity is much better than a lot of the other area schools and inclusivity is progressive/excellent. Teacher ratio is better than most. I have also noticed an excellent job of challenging students at their various levels across the grades. My only real criticism is the physical/play/exercise piece could be more robust.I absolutely love and recommend this school overall.
