One of our kids have spent a few years at Pioneer so far. Excellent curriculum with lots of diversity in thought and we felt that the teachers have cared about the growth and development of our child. Teachers have high standards, which is what you would expect from a school in this particular area. We will be sending our other kids here when they get older.

Had a very poor experience at this school. After a change of principal, this school has gone downhill quickly. This school has major problems with bullying and her solution is to ignore it. All too often the victim is blamed and required to redirect their behavior as opposed to actually disciplining the bully. The principal's approach is hostile and aggressive, his lack of kindness spills over on campus.

The school is getting worse with the new principal who is incompetent and handles issues poorly. She seems only good at directing the traffic in the mornings. Poor school management. Even kids complain that the principal doesn't know what a principal should do. It is disappointing to see that some experienced teachers left for good.

Lots of bullying at this school. Office staff are decent but character of this school is unpalatable.

My daughter transferred here because her previous Davis school was largely ineffective. She was not reading in 3rd grade. She was assigned a reading teacher and became a fluent reader within half a year. I am truly thankful for her reading teacher. Kudos to all the AIM teachers. They were teaching much more advanced topics to the kids and the kids understood it. The AIM teachers go over and beyond all the time, be it teaching the kids kindness and integrity, computer skills, or drama clubs (4th, 5th, and 6th) grade teachers respectively. This school does have some very wealthy constituents. I am not one of them. However, because they had the means and the kindness of heart, they volunteered and supported the school and I am very grateful for their kindness and time.

We are finishing our third year at Pioneer and have had an incredibly positive experience. There is so much love and kindness at this school that our kids are flourishing both socially and academically. The teachers and staff are all top-notch and the campus is beautiful and well maintained.

My son has attended K-2nd and has LOVED this school. The PTA is very active and truly cares about and supports the students. The principal isn't very visionary, but the teachers are fabulous. I haven't witnessed snobbery, but that may happen more in the upper grades.

Pioneer has several excellent, dedicated teachers. There is also a group of parents who give generously of their time and money. However, there is a widespread bullying problem that the principal does not acknowledge.

My oldest child attended Pioneer from 2nd through sixth. And my youngest child from K - 2nd. I moved my youngest not because of the academics, which are strong, but the climate & culture of the environment. Pioneer has an "elitist" feel to it. Not sure if it is because the GATE program resides on campus, or perhaps a higher concentration of wealthy families attend Pioneer. The PTA is very strong at Pioneer. It's a great money maker, but leaves many families excluded as their yearly fundraising auction is truly for people who have the extra money to spend. My children & I find the kids at Pioneer are more cliquey and exclusionary. FYI: GATE does segregate it's students in self contained classes, including eating lunch separately. My oldest is a GATE alumni, my younger is moved to a non-GATE school and is happier for it. Regardless of my younger child's test scores, we chose to not enroll in GATE again.
