Great School with Great teachers that care

Not happy at all with this school. I wasted too many years with them and put my daughter's education at stake. My daughter has learning disabilities and all they want me to do is put her on medications all the time which does her no good. No help at all for learning disabilities. And unless you are black, that principle will have nothing to do with you! Reason my child has been pulled and now being homeschooled! She is doing 100% better! On her way to a better education!

Rocky Plains is a great school! I was very hesitant at putting my children in a public school, but I have been very pleased with RPES in the four years my children have attended. The teachers are wonderful and do an excellent job. We think very highly of the principal as well. Most everyone is always very pleasant and greet us by name whenever we are there. My children have done extremely well and have exceeded in all areas on their CRCT. If you are looking for the best school in Newton County, this is it!

All three of my children attended RPES. I have one gifted child, one special needs child, and one average child. The principal and administrators, far from capable of doing their job. They are incapable of even the most minimal of tasks. The teachers, while caring and willing to help, can not do so. Special needs children are over looked or swept under the rug at opportunity. It is as though they try to find ways not to do their jobs. Unless your child is average, this school can not and will not help your child in anyway. No wonder Newton County Schools ranks 93rd out of 150 systems in the state of Georgia. SAD........just SAD.

Rocky Plains is an awesome school. The teachers there really care about the students. My child has struggled in Math this year and her teacher has worked so hard to help her develop not only her math skills but also to build her confidence. She has even worked with her afterschool to be sure she really gets the concepts they worked on in class. I also know of other teachers who have volunteered their time afterschool to help students who are struggling. We have been at Rocky Plains for several years and I have always found the teachers and principal to be supportive of all the students and parents.

Overall I am very pleased with Rocky Plains. Our children attended private school last year so this was a drastic change for all of us. The communication is great between the staff and parents. Most all of the teachers I've encountered have a desire to see the children excel. I have been very impressed with Dr. Jones. For a school as large as Rocky Plains, I don't think there is one student who she doesn't know their name. She is always talking with one student or another and always has a smile on her face. We went to her earlier in the year about a problem my child was having with some other students and she immediately handled the problem. I wish there were more options for children who are advanced in their class. We do have a problem of our children being bored occasionally. I am very surprised at how well most of the children behave. Discipline is definitely not an issue here, the administration doesn't put up with disruptive behavior. Overall, again we are very pleased with Rocky Plains.
