I have been at this school for 2 years now and 7th grade is way worse than 6th as if it wasn't already bad enough. There is a lot to bring up so I am going to try my best to get to it all. First off there is a lot of discrimination at this school, in every possible way. People are constantly joking and bullying about races and finding every way to separate people by their race. I am also a part of the LGBTQ+ and me and my girlfriend do face a lot of discrimination and so do many other people. When discrimination is brought up, administration does not take any sort of action and completely ignores it. A lot of people at this school also struggle with mental health. I know many people that are extremely suicidal or self harm, and this school is a common factor. The schools mental health resources are also extremely lacking. Many of the counselors and very rude and fake and you dont get much more than them. The teachers are rude, disrespectful, and act just as childish as the kids that go there, so much to where there have been very intense verbal fights between students and teachers. The teacher also do NOT now how to communicate. I was supposed to go on a field trip and my parents spent hundreds of dollars on and I did not get to go because we did not "correctly" fill out the paper work and I was not told that I missed the trip until it had already happened. We still have not gotten a refund and I doubt we are going to. The way the school is run is also a problem. The dress code singles out girls. Every girl that wears shorts or jeans that has rips on or above the knee are dress coded, but boys who literally has there pants pulled down past their butt aren't. At lunch we only get to sit on one side of the table so we all face forward and have assigned seats... AT LUNCH!! IT MAKES NO SENSE! Transitioning classes is also crazy. The halls are covered in tape that outline huge rectangles that we basically walk in huge circles around until we get to our class. If you step inside the rectangle to get in trouble, if you talk in the halls you get in trouble, basically if you breath at this school your getting a citation. We also have to put our phones in caddies in each class. A lot of people have gotten their phones stolen or lost, yet if your phone is found on you, you get a office referral. And if your phone goes off in the caddie, guess what! You get an office referral!! This school is insane. I don't know if I can stand another year at this school!

I have been attending this school for around 2 and a half months and I have already had some upsetting experiences. One of the things that I have noticed is the dress code is sexist. I have been dress-coded four times for perfectly reasonable-length shorts and or rips above the knee. I have seen many other girls receive this same treatment, yet I have never once seen a boy get dress-coded for rips or even pants being worn below the hip. Another thing I find upsetting is just the way the school is run. We have every class every day rather than a block schedule. Each class is about 45 minutes long which does not give a lot of time to focus on what is being taught. Also, the way we switch classes is just a recipe for disaster. The hall is split up by tape into big rectangles. We have to walk around these rectangles basically in big circles till we get to our class. We also can not step inside the rectangle or we get yelled at or a citation, which is almost impossible seeing as tons of kids a confined into a small area of the hall. Lunch is also a problem if you ask me. We get about 30 minutes to eat, which even the teachers complain about. Students can only sit on one side of the table and sitting on both sides is a "privilege". Many of the staff members are straight-up rude and will literally get on you for everything. One little thing like tipping your chair or walking in the middle of the hallway will get you a citation. The teachers hand those out like there is no tomorrow, it is crazy. They honestly give kids no trust or freedom, causing many bullies and fights. Bullying and aggression are at a high at this school. I have yet to be in a physical fight or bullying situation but I have seen many others experience it. Kids are lashing out due to all the stupid rules they have in place. I could go on but overall I do not recommend this school.

Seems like a lot has changed since the other reviews. My children have never seen or heard of any bullying. They’re too busy having fun and learning!

My child has had an overall really good experience at OMS. They have a wonderful Orchestra instructor. Her art teacher is fantastic. Of course no school is perfect but by staying involved I have made sure my child has been well taken care of. She loves her school, her teams and her friends.

They don't do anything when someone brought a box cutter to school but they did when someone brought a vape to school.

This school is not good for kids the teachers are rude and kids are not nice they bully and fight you and jump you i got jumped in the looker room because i did not give them candy this is not a school i recommend.

Hello I am a current student at this school I can say that bullying is pretty high the teachers are ok and some are mean sadly and some are kind Though the school may seem nice not that good sometimes the citations are handed out like assignments overall this school is ok but sadly not the best.

This school is great, but some of the teachers are to harsh and some of the students have so much attitude, talking back and the bullying is intense, the students trying to defend themselves end up in trouble. But I love this school for the nice teachers mostly the science ones. They understand students and they can tell who’s lying and who’s good, overall I wouldn’t recommend this school if your child can’t handle bullying.

I can say that I went to this school two years ago and it wasn't a good two years friend wise yes but learning wise. No thank you. The half of the teachers there rely on the technology. and half actually teach you hands on. With the faculty when there were bullying situations we couldn't rely on them to really handle the situation. WE as the student did it our selves and we did it they the kids that were getting bullied got in trouble but we handled it ourselves. The two years that I went to this school there were more fights then I've ever seen some with myself in them and some with other people. Most of the boys in the school were doing a gang fights. Honestly it was a hot mess I never understood why nothing happened. And the school i'm at now yes there is still fights but not as much and I actually feel like the two years of high school I have left are going to be great at this school.

Great school and the best cluster in the county. Teachers are dedicated and challenge the students to continually improve. Communication is great and the school seems to really try and promote a sense of community. Could not be any more pleased. I would like to see the teachers be given more leeway and authority to remove/discipline disruptive and troublesome students, as an inordinate amount of time seems to be spent pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Certain teachers yell at you for reason. They also have a dress out that singles out girls. Vocal brutality is basically this schools religion.

As I read all the comments from past years my heart is heavy that the same things are still an issue at Ola Middle school. I had such high hopes for the school. Mrs. Truitt is now the principal and is rude, disrespectful and undeserving of a position that deals with people period. Bullying is most definitely present at this school especially for children who are new to the area. If you think that you will have support here for you or your child let me tell you that's not " the OLa way" and "their" kids would never bully!!! My child has been called all type of racist names been pushed and hit on as well. When brought to the attention of administration my child was told that they were lying. If you weren't born and raised in the community good luck with being treated fairly! Keep you children close and informed. If you do chose to move to this area, stay involved and make your presence know or your child will be left out in the cold. The principal will never sit down with you she will always have others such as Mrs Maddox do her dirty work. As for me and my child if I have anymore issues I will take all of my evidence and exposes this school for the racist cesspool that it is. I hope this review helps!

All three of my children have attended Ola Middle School. It is one of the best schools in the county. I have been very satisfied with the level of instruction my children have received, and as my older two entered high school, they were very prepared for the rigor expected of them in honors classes. The teachers bend over backwards to contact parents and let us know what is going on. Mrs. Truitt has definitely increased the rigor at the school, which is a very good thing, and the fine arts program at the school is beyond a doubt the best in the county and one of the best in the state. I could not have asked for a better school for my children to attend.

Ola schools are the best in Henry County-we bought our house for our three kids to go to these schools. We have loved the elementary, middle and high schools. The negative reviews on here are just crazy, if you don't like it here move-houses sell here in days!

My son was enrolled in a private school for pre-k - 4th grade. We moved him to Ola Elem for 5th grade and he has gone through 6th & 7th grades at Ola Middle. Best decision ever! At Ola Middle, the students are challenged. The teachers work extremely hard to know every student and have excellent communication! The principal, Mrs. Truitt, is awesome with the kids! Each time I have had a question about anything, she has been more than happy to discuss it with me. She makes sure parents and students feel comfortable in the middle school setting. Mrs. Truitt makes sure info is well communicated through phone calls, emails, & the school Facebook page. The office staff is very helpful and friendly. The Fine Arts program (band, chorus, orchestra, drama, art) is amazing and definitely worth seeing in concert! The athletic directors are awesome and not only teach the athletes the skills of the game, but also to respect their teachers, parents, other teams, and each other. The elementary school, middle school, and high school all work together as a community. I highly recommend Ola Middle. Definitely deserves 5+ stars!

This is my daughter s first year at OMS, we have been in the Ola district since 2nd grade with no complaints. UNITL NOW! The teachers and staff members at OMS are the rudest group of people I have encountered. This school has an 8 on the scale but the 8 only stands for test scores! The way you treat people HAS as to be apart of what makes a school Great. I remember the first day of open house at OMS, I walked up to Mrs. Truitt to ask where a classroom was located in the school so my daughter and I could meet her new teacher. I extended my hand to introduce myself to Mrs. Truitt and she gave me a look like I've never seen, almost like she could not believe I walked up to her and dare ask a question! I should have known right then and there that this is not the environment I want my daughter in. OMS needs to take it's own advise on the no bulling policy and treat your students and parents a little nicer and with respect. We will relocating as soon as possible.

My daughter started Ola Middle in 6th grade. That year was a good school year. This past school year she was bullied throughout the school year. The new principle Mrs. Truitt didn't do anything about it until we got the board of education involved. My daughter wasn't the first child that has been harassed in the school. We have met other parent that have had issues with the school.

Ola Middle has some of the greatest teachers in the county. My son is a product of Henry Co schools and is doing very well. I have been very happy with the education he has gotten so far. He is now preparing for high school and is taking 5 college prep courses. We moved to Ola for the schools and are very glad we did... to be honest if you are so unhappy with the schools, rent your house and try another school system. Seems might strange to me OMS is rated one of the top 1,000 public schools in the NATION and parents still find something to complain about. I have no complaints and neither does my son.
