Excellent all-around experience. Outstanding principal, high quality and high character teachers, and a wide offering of extracurriculars. The numbers speak for themselves: West is the top performing high school in the area, year after year.

New principal does not share academic values that the prior administration did, and is driving athletics only, which is appropriate given this individual's prior experience in a rural county and as a gym teacher/coach. Ultimately, a school's academic reach reflects the academic strength of the principal, and as such- West is already suffering academically. Many students are looking for other school options in the last 2 years since the principal change up. It's not a stretch to see this administrative choice by the school board will ruin the school's once-better academic reputation. Along with this issue, the school has drama issues. We were relieved to leave the school after 2 years. There are some decent teachers, but there is truly no education/learning taking place here. This is most likely the case at any public school in NC, however. The teachers are focused on discipline cases. The principal is focused on himself or gearing up useless athletics (because this is why kids are in school?)- just a sad state for any school. Happy to have moved my kid out. I wish West had been what it could be (and should be) for these kids.

Have had three children graduate from West and it was always been a great experience for all of them.

If you fall behind in a class, don’t expect the teachers to care or help you. Too many cliques and drama. If you’re shy then good luck because many teachers there grade the popular students better or heavily count class participation. Some of the teachers cared too much to be liked by the ‘cool’ kids. Wish I had transferred sooner.

Good if you are a Stepford Family and complacent. My child learned more about brand name clothes and how to be "preppy" than course subject matter. Classes are not engaging. Large school of people who are all alike; no diversity. My child was not getting a well rounded education experience which is needed for college. After year one we had to make a move to a magnet institution where the experience will prepare her for college and real life.

Rated #2 high school in North Carolina by US News, and I can definitely see why. I adore this school, and it has so much to offer. Teachers are engaging and knowledgeable. West is booming with diversity and school spirit that makes me proud that I go to West. The list of clubs, activities, and sports are endless, and everybody finds their own niche. I highly recommend West Forsyth to anyone who may be considering it. I promise you will be welcomed with open arms.

If I could describe West Forsyth High School .. I would say one thing: dull. This school is very dull and plain boring. The teachers are great yes. Did I like them? Of course. They interacted with the class. However most of the time the environment is not so good. This is because of the lack of diversity this school has. It's very uncomfortable for some students. There's not many clubs and the only thing I liked was the Drama Department which is the only amazing thing there. A very boring and unorganized school too. The block schedule is absolutely stupid. I only stayed at West for one year and already 3 days into the school year I was dying to get away from it. I know I couldn't stay another year. The lack of participation and diversity in this school is just sad. There needs to be more diverse people in this school but I'm guessing this is never going to happen. I never wanted to go to west in the first place due to the fact I could never get into the school I really wanted to go to. If your looking for a diverse school with many opportunities then I'm sorry to say but West is not a good choice.
