The school has been a wonderful place for our daughter. She loves her sports team and has made great friends. She receives support and guidance from teachers.

The few nice comments on here may represent the minority of the families that are happy. This school is so overrated and we moved here for all the grand things that it has. However, I would look elsewhere. We are stuck here and I can only pray for better outcomes. Our experience with 2 elementary schools was mainly positive. I've not heard many people complain besides an occasional teacher or two that you don't bond well with. The intermediate school was fine. My children had some really great teachers and we've met some really nice families. The nice experiences dissolve for many at the junior high. Some of the staff and principals are not someone you can trust has the best interest for your child. The politics here are awful. So many staff and principals know so many families outside of school that there is a bias. Many kids are not punished for being bullies even if they have a history following them. Lunch is a diaster. Some kids are forced to eat at 1 pm when school begins at 8 am and ends at 3 pm. Bullying occurs at lunch and you can't expect the principal to help because he too picks some kids to not be fair or friendly with. There's not enough searing in the cafeteria and the staff doesn't help the kids feel more comfortable. The female choir teacher is extremely inappropriate. She often tells personal stories that kids do not need to here and she tries to be funny and entertain when she talks but she is downright putting parents and children down. She is accommodating to certain students and cold to many others. The bullying is out of control for so many kids. Power and status will certainly get your child immunity from situations or expectations such as joining more than one sport. There's a lot of talent so average kids wishing to grow in sports or theater will be denied the opportunity to learn and excel. With the money this school has, you would think they would offer more. The casts seem to be small and the same kids are picked by the inappropriate teacher. The children at this school act much older than others I've seen from other districts. If you want your child to have a more rounded experience with more caring folks, then I would look in a more economically area. Kids here have everything and many are not humble. Many families take their children out of the district for private school or wish the could. Plus take my post into consideration

My child attended SJHS last year and after much deliberation, we pulled her out and sent her to the local catholic school. my child was bullied and the administration did NOTHING about it. However, with the schools good reputation, we worried that a small catholic school would not measure up. I have never been so wrong in my life. At All Saints, my child is receiving a far superior education and the kindness of the students and staff exceeded my expectations. As non-catholics, we were also concerned, but we were welcomed with open arms. If your child is unhappy or you question the academics at SJHS, give ALS a try. BEST decision we ever made!!!

Sycamore is probably the best fit for your child. All the comments that say the teachers are unhelpful, are extremely false. I am a current student of Sycamore Junior High. They give out extensive activities. Not just for sports, but for music they have SSC (Sycamore Singing Company) which is a show choir that is amazing. They have clubs such as BSU (Black Student Union) where you can learn about African American History more extensively. The activities help kids with social interaction and its amazing! No matter what you are interested in there is a spot for you at Sycamore! I suggest if you're moving somewhere in Cincinnati, then I suggest you move to Sycamore District.

Great if special needs, minority, of super high achiever. Above average white kids looking for a great education should look elsewhere.

We are so incredibly fortunate that our daughter is in the Sycamore School District. She currently attends the Junior High and LOVES it. Sycamore has incredible teachers and administration. Before our family moved to Cincinnati 6 years ago, I made a few calls to try to determine which district would be best for our child - Sycamore was at the top of the list. We visited the elementary school she went on to attend, Montgomery, and were thrilled about this opportunity for her. She is thriving academically, socially and emotionally, thanks to all! We aren't equally impressed with Cincinnati, but would not even consider relocating until after our daughter has completed her Sycamore experience.
