i am a 8th grader at this school i been here ever since 6th grade the first too years here were okay, but now it really sad on how many fight can happen in 4 months. Like come on "9" fights in 2 day is insane, now most of us are gonna get out flied trips took away. Some teachers are fun and chill but other just give you work over and over so it just sits there *tip "less work" this school is ghetto but other than that its good, but some teachers need to chill on the work can over work kids.

They have bad teaching and they also have strict teachers and the staff do not care for your child's safety. The people who work here will not be patient with your child if your child is hurt or getting beat up. They do not let your child use their phone even though they need you to pick them up. They can not call their parents if they don't feel good or throw up. if you go to the nurse they will not do anything if they are sick or throwing up. The teachers don't care about your child's learning instead they just do it for the money. The teachers do not let your child go to the restroom in the last ten minutes of class. Even though they have to go really bad they don't care. The staff gave your child detention even though they were using the restroom. The staff is just here for the money instead of your child's safety. When your child is using their phone to text us parents the staff will take it and they will not give it back unless you pick it up and it will make us parents late to work. Another thing is that a teacher said the n-word to a student. My child said that the staff told him to go back to his country. Another thing is that the school makes the children run all of the school but most of the children are throwing up or passing out because of the turkey trot and the fun run. Overall my children have had a bad three years in this school. This school is one of the worst school I've enrolled my children in.

Although this school has room for many improvement, it is making a lot of progress. I recommend this school.

teachers give a lot of homework and don't provide enough support to students expectations are high. Also there are many students who are bullying other students!! this needs to be discussed its a huge problem in school suicide rates in middle school are at an all time high and bullying is one big reason parents and teachers talk about this openly !!! no child should feel unsafe at school

I would rate my overall experience a four. It was tough losing such a caring principal 8th grade year. I thought more support could be given to long term subs to ensure the integrity of the curriculum is maintained in the permenant teacher's absence.

Good teachers but the bullying culture needs a tighter control. Staff and Parents have to keep a close eye on the bullying

Carnegie Middle School has some of the most amazing teachers. My son and my nephew both attend, Their 6th and 7th grade English teacher Mrs. Cobe (Mrs.Ross - she changed her name) really pushed the boys to be successful. She never gave up on them, she told them that they could do th work and stayed after school and came in early to help all her students. Now they are in 8th grade and doing great. Ms. Cobe talked about college almost every day and it motivate the kids. I hear that the principal retired and I am hoping that then new one is better and more caring. Some of the other teachers are also really good but some are mean and don't wanna help there kids do good.

My daughter attends this school I looked around at several schools before putting her in this one. I live in Hawthorne Unified School District and refuse to send my child to her home school. I was able to meet with the teachers at Carnegie and was pleased with what I saw and what was discussed. I was able to observe several classes and meet with with the principal. I am pleased with my child;s academic success thus far and will continue to support my daughter and this school. I am looking forward to new and innovative plans administration and staff is pursuing.

I am a current teacher at Carnegie Middle School. I have been a teacher for over fourteen years. Carnegie is the most pleasant school that I have worked at. It is also the most diverse, from students to faculty and staff. I value that. The parents are involved and responsive. I have read over the reviews of the school, many of which are over two or three years old. It helps if a person who is providing a review has a greater perspective about the state of education across the board, has children in school, and has worked at various campuses in various capacities. The current administration is responsive to families and staff members. The students are well-behaved and respectful. Our students were excited to and responsive to our first year competing as a Scripp's Spelling Bee School this year. Our students compete and win awards. We all know that nothing is perfect, but as an experienced teacher and former administrator and coach, I will tell you that Carnegie is one of the best middle schools in the South Bay. I plan to continue to teach here for a long while.
