I changed my son's school to Carson Elementary from 232nd place due to a safety issue my son encountered (at 232nd). As I went through this transition in the middle of his 1st grade year, Mr. Leon practically greeted me with open arms. On my son's first day there, Mr. Leon brought me and my son into his office spoke with us about the school and any safety concerns/questions I may have had. He then walked us into my new son's classroom and introduced us to Ms. Soqui, 1st grade teacher, and his classmates. I thought the introduction was wonderful due to Mr. Leon making this exception during 2021 when parents were not yet allowed on school premises (Covid pandemic). I had addressed an issue with Ms. Soqui about a student touching my son's bottom a few times and she involved Mr. Leon, spoke to the student AND even had someone come to talk to the entire class about inappropriate touching. I was amazed how supportive they were on a sensitive subject, as they should, but after my incident with 232nd's principal my expectations were low. I am still impressed how involved and quickly they went into action. My son went onto second grade with Ms. Bautista who is such an awesome involved teacher. I have had concerns that I've addressed to Ms. Bautista who has also been quick to action. Ms. Soqui and Ms. Bautista, including Mr. Leon are heaven sent! My son has been so lucky to have these excellent adult figures to look up to and be instructed by. They're passion of being teachers, role models and knowing they're taking part in a child's growth does not go unnoticed. As a parent, I feel blessed that I get to interact with them, feel heard and be supported by them. Most importantly, my son is in a safe learning environment and concerns are welcomed and addressed. This solidified the right decision to move him from 232nd to Carson Elementary. Thank you for all that you do!

I was going to send my kids here but after what is going on with my nephew and the principal and teacher not doing anything when it comes to Bulling I had no choice but take then alse were, I'm highly disappointed with Mr.leon who is the principal at the school working thier for so many year and can't seem to help parents when other kids are not only Physically hurting others but mentally as well and the school allows it, by covering it up with oh thier kids, one time An accide, 2nd time all the other kid wasn't looking, 3rd time all their just kid they must have been playing, 4th time oh we're really talking to the kid it will not happen again, 5th time Maybe your child is doing something to provoke it, As a parent of 2 toddlers that are both in school I can tell you that the teachers are not well trained when it comes to bullying and they should be.

Mi hija le encanta su escuela Dice que todo los maestros se empeñan en enseñar lo mejor y que se preocupan por que los niños aprendan .

My child is a shy one. He was sort of bullied at kinder by a bigger kid but he would sometimes push the kid back. He never got a bad note from the school but we used to get the FYI notes just letting us know what happened. At one time, my son would cry himself to sleep saying he didn't want to go to school. Towards the end of the school yr he became better at just ignoring the classmate troubling him and they were separated. Now in first grade, he was excelling academically. The teacher though, I thought was a little strict. She wasn't giving as much feedback on my child's progress. She wont even make eye contact sometimes when I pick up my child. My son even said sometimes other students would ask their teacher something and she would respond back with a "no!" with a mad tone of voice. I'm not very happy with her but she's not too bad I guess. My son would come home sad sometimes feeling like he did something wrong. That's my only issue with the school--- or that particular teacher in first grade.

this is an amazing elementary school. when i went there, Mr.Leon was the principal, and he did a great job. The GATE program is amazing. i even had some friends who said that their Speech Development classes were excellent. the teachers really care about the students. Of course, there was a period when they had to rebuild the playground, but it was fixed and the newer playground is pretty awesome. I'm a 7th grader now, and going to this school really helped. i learned a lot. Plus, when i was there, this was a distinguished school!
