This is the school Roddy Rich, the most famous rapper and the person who makes banger songs graduated from. This school is great and so is Roddy Rich.

Ineffective leadership on the part of the administration has had a detrimental effect on the quality of education at Carson High school over the last several years.

The staff is RUDE, LAZY and very UNPROFESSIONAL!! The teachers don't care for the students and they are just as lazy as the staff in the front office.

Alas, Carson High (main complex) is only a shell of its former self. There's a lot of blame that can go around for this. I teach at this school but couldn't see sending my own children here. The classes are packed beyond reason and with now seven periods there is barely time to cover the material that kids so desperately need to absorb. The obsession with testing is driving everything and makes for a somewhat dreary learning experience for both teacher and student. Teacher morale is very low with the changes and a climate of fear and intimidation exists on the campus. Fortunately, the kids are wonderful and amazing. They are a pleasure to see and work with and make putting up with a some of the more intellectually specious directives somewhat bearable. The school is a bit of a factory. Budget cuts have eliminated many of its programs and the class selection is EXTREMELY limited. There is less than a 50% chance your kid will ever go on a field trip during his or her four years here. To be fair, this situation exists in many LAUSD schools. Carson is not special in this regard. The kids here are amazing. The education philosophy that is being championed here is not.

Carson High is a great neighborhood school. They now have School Loop Plus, an amazing website that sends parents daily emails with their students homework assignments and current grades and attendance. For parents who want to know how their students are doing and how to help them do better, Carson High School is an excellent choice. A little smaller than it used to be, there is an emphasis on personal attention and an academically focused atmosphere. Students also are able to see how they are doing on a daily basis and we are really seeing a change in how much students care about their grades now that they feel they have some insight and control over their grades.

I graduated from Carson High in '08 and i'm going to graduate from UC Berkeley in the spring. This school isn't perfect but i thought it suited me perfectly. There are many different AP classes and lots of organizations to join. As a Latina, i felt that i was going to fall through the cracks and not do well because most of the students that do well are from the filipino community but i got along with them well and i felt that though there were some racial segregations that we did ourselves i felt comfortable in that school and i did excellent. The different learning communities definitely help. I was part of Advanced Studies Academy and my teachers were amazing. I read books that my professors at Berkeley reference and talk about and i felt that i was semi prepared for college. High school is what everyone makes of it. I wanted to succeed so i did. If you want to go to school to meet girls or boys and just party then you will not do so great.

We moved to this school district when my daughter was a junior, I was under the impression this was a good school, she is now a senior and Im so glad she is graduating or I would have to take her out & relocate. There is no leadership @ this school. No dress code. The staff is detached and uncaring, the scores are low, the state needs to take over!!!
