My child has been a student at Midwest for 3 years. In that time, he has learned an immense amount in every class. When I ask him which class is his favorite, he says EVERY class is his favorite! There are just 8 students in his grade which has allowed him to make close friendships and get individualized attention to his academic needs. The teachers are well versed in teaching our unique kiddos and they really go the extra mile to use creative and fun techniques to ensure they are learning and making progress. A wide variety of electives and extracurriculars are offered from art, tae kwon do and choir and drama to the annual spring musical. There is also a huge assortment of after school clubs and even summer camps. As a parent, I love sending my son to a school where the teachers understand him, care about his well being and are willing to work as a team with parents to ensure a students success. My son loves going to school at MWA, so we plan to keep him there for many years to come.

Midwest Academy has been a life-changing experience for our family. Our daughter has been attending for five years, and we couldn’t be happier with the education and support she’s received. The staff are truly amazing—compassionate, patient, and deeply committed to the success of every student. The head of school leads with dedication and a genuine care for the kids, creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive. It’s clear that Midwest Academy is more than a school; it’s a community that celebrates the unique strengths of each student while helping them overcome their challenges. We are so grateful to be part of this wonderful school! Midwest Academy has given our daughter the tools and confidence to succeed, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

A suggestion for this school would be to update its stated mission and change promotional tactics so that it's clear what kind of school this is and who they serve. It seems to be a school for kids that fit a specific mold vs. those it claims to truly serve on the website. Unless your child is extremely compliant and drugged out of their minds, I would recommend not wasting your time. Once upon a time, I was a very compliant ADD child who socially struggled somewhat but who was academically successful enough to get by, go to college, and be successful in life without much support. It seems that kids who are like I was more closely fit what they're after. My son is high functioning autistic and needs both academic and social support and we were seeking enrollment for him. The enrollment process for this school was unprofessional. It dragged on for many months. There was a lack of transparency about next steps and they did not respond to polite phone and email inquiries. I was always told that they were busy with some event, there was an overwhelming number of enrollment inquiries, or some other lame excuse for someone not being able to type out a quick email, pick up the phone or even cut and paste a "We're sorry, but" type message. As a parent, this was extremely frustrating. Also, on the date I had my child evaluated, instead of having a normal Q&A session, the principal seemed very focused on if I was accepting of LBGQT+ (which I am and always have been very accepting of and think very important, but also thought it strange that the conversation was much less focused on academics, their philosophies and practices, etc.). The feedback given to us after my son's shadow day was insulting, condescending and even ableist. We have shared this feedback with some of their referral sources (other organizations who support autistic individuals) so that other people don't have to experience the same painful process that we did. It sounds like they're having trouble keeping up with the number of applications they are receiving. If only 1 in 4 or fewer people who go through the process are accepted, I think it's time to update how you market yourselves and/or get the needed extra staff, etc. to support those you claim to serve but don't.

Do not waste your student's precious time or money. Quality of academics was terrible and found this was more a school for disciplinary-challenged students, or gender-dysphoric students hiding from mainstream, rather than an educational alternative for kids with learning differences (Autism, Asperger's, ADHD, etc...) despite their advertising as such. Their special education credibility is sorely lacking. As for the positive ratings on other review boards, names are recognized as teachers and staff. Practices are so politically motivated and "woke", emphasis on learning is completely lost. Dumbing down of students practiced here. This was a total bait and switch, and politics should have no place in school, especially when kids can't critically think or perform basic academic practices of reading, writing, and arithmetic. If you are looking for serious solutions for your student's learning success, look elsewhere.

The leadership in this school is dedicated to what is best for the students. The teachers and staff work with the students as individuals to provide education that is not based on worksheets but real life tasks that make the students problem solvers. My grandson is a student and I’ve watched his self esteem soar.

Midwest was our last hope of finding a school where our daughter could learn and thrive in an environment dedicated to teaching & learning. The head of school and the teachers are exceptional. The small classroom sizes and one-on-one teaching, when needed, is the key to this school. Our daughter has gone from D's & F's in the public schools to A's and B's at Midwest. Her self-esteem has skyrocketed and we've seen her become a self-confident, intelligent young lady. Thank you Midwest!

My son attends here. He got lost academically in public school but was with the "in" crowd socially. Still, his public school experience was not good due to indifferent teachers and large classes with little control. He has made a dramatic turnaround academically at Midwest due to teachers that really want to teach and a different style of teaching. They also know how to deal with ADD, Aspbergers and such if you have a student with that.
