Even though I’m not a rebel, my mother was. I actually met some of her teachers and to be honest, I don’t know why everyone is saying bad stuff about HHS, sure the fent problem makes it look bad but its still a good school in the end.

THe sdhool principal is a good man. However, the staff memebers are rude and hostile to students.

Horrible. No communication. If your child is disciplined you get a generic form email that gives you almost no information. The administration especially the principal is more concerned with how the football team did and what your child is wearing and the color of their hair than attendance and grade.

Terrible school, don't know why to join it

Terrible. All they care about is their football team winning. Their AP students. And they suspend students who don’t do their work or want to be at school. This does not make any sense to me. There are absolutely no academic Support resources and students with any learning issues or emotional etc. are just labeled problems. There are more resources at Lehman, which is only given a bad reputation because of predjudice against the majority population of Latino students.

This school has some very talented students but the teachers, principles and overall adults there are very close minded and don't seem to care much about the students , causing them to be uninterested in learning and school in general .

I'm a student. There is great moral and it is pretty welcoming overall. The people are nice. Teachers however, it depends. There are some good teachers but quite a few are either lacking in support, teaching skills, or both. The education itself isn't that great, although the science and math related classes are ok. I rated as high as I did because of the previously mentioned accommodation within the student population and my own experience with it, however the education itself is severely lacking.

My child attends Hays and struggled in the transition from middle to high school. I have called, emailed, shown up at school. Had conferences with teachers. Not one proactive call to tell me she was not getting work turned in, less than half the time do I get a return email. I left a VM and emailed her counselor, who took a week and a half to respond. Finally had to pay Sylvan $3,000 to get my child some help. I have no qualms with the classes and curriculum, but when your child needs help, they are just one of 2.600 students. This has been a nightmare.

Attendance is never right therefore leading to threatening letters for Truancy. Blamed all the discrepencies on Substitute teachers. Monitor your students absences. Attendance officer is rude!

It depends on the teachers that you get for class. Some care some didn't. Their are some problem with the school though like student conduct.

I went to Hays High School my junior and senior year. Some teachers care and some didn't. Most of the times the teachers had favorites and it wasn't hidden. The teachers try to be too much of a friend and gossip buddy. While football, band, ect. are all "important" things in every high school. I can truly say that if you are "somebody" at Hays, meaning you play football ect. you can get away with almost anything even failing grades. The Priorities at Hays HS are all Jacked up. Race is an issue. The issue isn't because of the confederate flag at all. It comes in with how they handle dress code issues with different races. Don't get me wrong I liked Hays for the most part. I also participated in many different clubs. But, I'm not going to say good things about it just because I had a decent time there. The school needs lots of improvement.

I am a sophomore at this school, and truthfully, it is not bad. A good chunk of the teachers still know what it was like when they were teenagers, and are pretty easy to connect with. The only reason anyone really fails here is because they don not apply themselves. There are some "bad eggs" in this group, but there are a lot more respectable people than our rival school. I have fun learning here, and consider my teachers friends...but the APs are useless, and just like any school, you are judged by a number.
