    My son was placed Sunset Park prep through the NYC lottery. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. This school is filled with dedicated teachers and staff. The teachers take the time to make sure all the students do well and understand what they are learning. They spend the first month teaching kids executive function skills so they are able to stay on top of their assignments throughout the year. The teachers get back to emails right away and will even call or zoom with you need be. My son got pretty sick and could not attend school for a few weeks and they were so caring, sent him emails and zoomed with him to check up on him. The principle is a gem. She is willing to listen to suggestions and wants to do whatever possible to help both the students and families in the school. It is a wonderful school.

    My 6th grader started at Sunset Park Prep during the pandemic so I was able to sit in on his classes and meetings on home days. His teachers and principal are engaging and caring. They promote empathy and inclusion and celebrate diversity. I have been very impressed. It is very easy to communicate one on one with teachers and the administration.
