Brooklyn Preparatory High School is a small school in Williamsburg, with a lot to offer. As a sophomore in this school I can confidently say that this school is full of opportunities, caring staff, and strong school culture. When applying to high schools I had originally put this school towards the bottom, as I was skeptical of some aspects and was not sure if I was ready to accept this school offer. Regardless, as soon as I entered this school, freshman year, I was almost overwhelmed with opportunities – ranging from paid internships, inclusivity clubs, countless AP and dual enrollment courses, paid opportunities in the school, leadership roles, and many sports. Not only did these chances make me fall in love with my school but the staff as well. Each teacher has a genuine passion for teaching and they all truly care for each student. I feel safe and open in all my classes and the community in this school is like no other. This school is full of genuine people too, I have quickly made friends with students of all races, ages, and backgrounds. I am personally very passionate about college and pursuing a career after school, and that is one reason why I am so happy to end up at this school. The college prep that this school offers is unmatched, and so supportive. Each staff member encourages every individual student and pushes them to work harder, do better and be stronger. It is hard to grasp and put into words all this school has to offer but in my personal opinion it is like no other, and no matter who you are I can guarantee there is something here for you.

My school really isn't bad at all. Yeah sometimes they can be too strict for the littlest f things but the falcatiy is there whenever you need them. We all have a great relationship with them. They may get on our nerves at times, but we're a family. This school is what made me realize what i want to be when I graduate, it also shows me that as long as I try as hard as possible... I will never fail. It also introduced me to my first and last love. I love my school.

I feel like Brooklyn Prep is an underprivileged school and it's not fair. On an everyday bases I run into peers with amazing potential. This school is not 2/10. We just lack resources and options. Imagine if every high school had the things Brooklyn Tech has. And we wonder why we are seeing no progress. The education system is not fair nor equal. This must change. The teachers at Brooklyn Prep are phenomenal and care about our education and preparing us for college. Each year the students get worse and worse. I was even beginning to lose eagerness in showing up but I'm not like the rest, I persevere. Back to my point, we are a small school and we need more. Stop ignoring us NY! We are here and we exercise our habits of mind and work! Brooklyn Prep is underrated. But we are a family, and together we will strive to become a better school. We are on the right track, we just need time and more to work with. Everyone deserves a quality education that they are proud of.
