I was a former student of JEMS 126 and the school almost changed my personality. The students did nothing more than used me for answers for their assignments and I was usually bullied because I’m autistic, my self interests such as learning various subjects or my mixed ethnicity. Some of my former female classmates even teased me if I was gonna be dating or not, which I never found funny. One of them even kept kicking my bag because it has wheels. For me, distance learning was a blessing in disguise since I don’t have to come to school under fear of harassment, violence, or humiliation. Now in high school, my classmates respect me of my choices, my interests, and above all, my ethnicity. I even have an IEP so I can learn just as well as other students.P.S. I used a randomly created name on an alternate email account to anonymize my identity. My account name is NOT my real name.“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

This school now has a new principal, a new curriculum and some very passionate teachers have been added to the staff. I have seen a tremendous improvement in the culture in this short time. I am certain that this school will improve tremendously over the course of this year and next. I plan to send my next child, currently a 4th grader, there as well.
