I think it is getting better day by day. The school teachers and the administration are very successful. I cannot say the same about the parents.

This school is really nice. Sometimes some of the teachers are kinda rude but most of the time they are really sweet. One things I don’t like about this school is that they give out lots of homework but honestly it’s fine, and unlike the rat poison from other school lunches this schools school lunch is ok.

Great school for my kids. I love how they always have these activities for the kids in school and after. The teachers are all really nice too. Great school. I Highly recommend this school.

All the teachers are friendly and create positive energy in classrooms, all teachers encourage learning to students. All students are respectful and welcome new people kindly. Teachers support students at all learning levels.

Worst school to send your child if you are worried about bullying or special education services.

Demarest School is a very good school, but I cannot say the same for families and especially Hsa. terrible uncommunicative and rude people. Despite all the messages, those who park in forbidden places, enter the school park, smoke in the garden, Hsa members who can't even say hello...

-A student.I went to this school last year and it was horrible now I was in normal classes and how it worked was they just gave us the material. They didn't try to form to my type of learning. Also the guidance counselor was very rude and unfair. I was bullied and I was crying and she yelled at me not to cry. I do get emotional semi-easily but these kids tripped me kicked me on dirt ground out side and got 2days of detention. However I got 3 weeks of suspension for making a white lined paper sci-fi gun. Now I don't know why BMS has such a low rating. My grades went from Ds and Cs to all As and Bs because these teachers in BMS know how to help kids properly and learn there style of learning. I just felt I had to get this out there for any parents wondering about a students point of view.

The staff at the school are great from the Principal to the teachers and student teachers. They have been supportive of my children, challenged them as much as they could, and praised them for work well done. It is a really caring environment. The only reason that I do not give a "great" review is no fault of the school, but rather of the district. The school infrastructure is worn out and needs help and the materials and non-curriculum arts and language programs are not given enough funding. This is true throughout the township. But Mrs. Todaro and her staff do their absolute best with what the BOE and State give them.

Worst school to send a child to with special needs. They have no interest in whats best for the child, just the best way to sweep them under the rug with the hope they don't have to deal with your kid.

If you're looking for an amazing Principal and staff, well look no further. This is my daughters last year and at this point I'm just grateful she was able to attend such a prestigious school. Mrs. Todero and her teachers is the reason why this school gets a 5star rating from me.

My daughter has been in Demarest Elementary for five years now, I have found her teachers to be very involved with their students, concerned with their progress, and willing to push them in the right direction. I feel comfortable with the overall curriculum. The Principal, Mrs. Todaro, appears to care very much about the direction of the school, bullying is not tolerated here at all. It would have been nice for this school to have been able to keep their Spanish teacher rather then utilize Rosetta Stone. I believe interaction with an actual teacher to be the best form of instruction. I also wish there were more options with regard to their the Music program (i.e. the school doesn't provide piano instruction as an option, etc.). Also, the aftercare program, which is conveniently located in the basement, courtesy of the YMCA, is rather expensive and doesn't seem to provide the structured-extra curricular activities a parent would expect - - overall it seems to be a good school with good teachers and a caring environment.

My daughter attended Demarest for 7 years (K-6). We loved this school. The teachers and staff are open to communication and very responsive. Everyone involved at this school creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. Parental involvement is very high.

My son has studied for 2 years at Demarest. Overall it is a good school. The teachers are doing their best with what they have. The downsides are that the music teacher has no classroom. There is no Spanish teacher due to the budget cuts, kids have to watch movies in Spanish with no explanation. Breakfast and lunch programs are terrible, food is nasty. Plan to pack your own food every day. Aftercare is pretty bad, held by YMCA. Looks like most councellors have just finished an elementary school themselves! No discipline there. It is a zoo. But it is not Demarest's fault, not sure who chooses an aftercare provider. As far as academics go, I do not have any complaints.

I am a parent who does not know good English and with the help of google will show my anger to the director of this school. My son has made school here, but never am not satisfied. before my son came to this school was high and exemplary results we bring. as the new director came this change because it's always managed to condemn as not to like school. condemn only this and the next child if left free this .. it only quarrel with it much more condemning is not like school. but we did not know where to talk about because they did not know English. has a year that is gone and I am satisfied with the school that has now been very polite and higher grades .. thanks god that was left out there ...I don` t like ...rey mother

Demarest is great school! My oldest son has been there for 4 years now and loves it there. He has had wonderful, caring teachers. They have been easy to talk to and offer suggestions on how to improve his performance in school. He has received extra help (e.g., speech therapy and tutorial for the NJ ASK) and has done well. My daughter is in kindergarten now and just loves going to school. We are lucky to have the full day program --- a big help for working parents! Mrs. Todaro, the principal, is great. She is always out there to make sure the kids are safe. Under her leadership, I think Demarest school will get even better.
